Seattle game sells out

Posted by Darren Urban on November 13, 2009 – 1:59 pm

As expected, the Seattle game — thanks to the 24-hour extension — has officially sold out, meaning it will be broadcast on local TV (Fox). As usual, there remain some scattered tickets available, so just because the sellout is official doesn’t mean it isn’t too late to attend the game if you want.

Speaking of the game, two key elements to remember Sunday. Don’t forget NASCAR’s fall foray into the Valley is this weekend, with their big race Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway just about the same time as the Cards’ game. As a result, the race day will end about 5 p.m. in the West Valley and alternate routes should be considered if you live in the East Valley and use I-10 to get home. Fans can call 511 to get the latest traffic updates from the Department of Transportation.

Also, the annual food drive put on jointly by the Cards and Gila River, so volunteers will be at the game collecting non-perishable food items (and/or money) for St. Mary’s Food Bank to help the less fortunate here during the holidays.

No. If I did, I’d have a much fancier title and a much bigger paycheck.

I think it’s just supply-and-demand. Right now, the demand isn’t as great, I believe more because there is less discretionary income for people rather than a reluctance to go to games. Also, if people think they can wait until the last minute to spend the cash, usually people will.

Why can’t the NFL change the blackout rules?

My math might not be right here, but 1300 left sounds like 98% or 97%, and that sounds close enough to a sellout for me. Can’t they just lower it to 95% sellout?

The NFL already makes enough money from tickets and fining people for every little thing they do, its not like they would lose very much.

I heard a study on the news the other day that measured economic numbers. AZ is either the worst or 2nd worst in every category. It also said we have the 2nd worst economy since the recession. It’s not the only reason, but it’s a big reason why these games take until Friday to sell out.

I believe the econmy is playing role in games selling out so late in the week but, if the cardinals where to play more consistent on the field at home, there would be no need to wait until friday’s for sellouts.
