Okeafor out for St. Louis

Posted by Darren Urban on November 20, 2009 – 12:31 pm

Linebacker Chike Okeafor (back) missed practice again today and coach Ken Whisenhunt said Okeafor will not play Sunday in St. Louis — moreso because he has been unable to practice, and not because he is hurting so much. The rest of the men on the injury list got in at least some work today and, as I previously mentioned, I expect all of them to be available Sunday. T Mike Gandy (pelvis) did practice fully for the first time this week.

I hope the best for Chicke. But more importantly I hope GH is near 100% this weekend. We need to stuf the middle but good.

We’ll certainly miss Chike, he makes a lot of tackles and forces play inside. If you think back to when Graves extended Hays’ contract it was a great move that got better as his play continued to escalate into the new deal. Hays and Dansby are tough to run through. The other man having a great year is Haggans. Thanks boys for Beannie Ball – some of our linemen might be better run blockers than pass blockers.

Bummer! Hoping for a quick recovery! He’s awesome!

Chike has stepped the last few years after people were wondering whether we should keep hiim and Berry has stepped up in replacing him. I love our front 7 because, though we don’t necessarily have a 12-15 sack guy, we are very deep and have a bunch of guys who rotate in and play effectively. Branch, Watson, Will Davis, Bryan Robinson, etc. Hope Chike recovers for next week’s game and kudos to Haggans for having a resurgent year.
