Tidbits from New Orleans

Posted by Darren Urban on January 15, 2010 – 4:45 pm

A few items to clean up after landing in dreary, rainy New Orleans:

Today’s injury report officially had WR Anquan Boldin (ankle) and LB Gerald Hayes (ankle) as limited and questionable for the game. I still have my doubts of them being able to go, but we’ll see tomorrow.

– Paul Calvisi, Ron Wolfley and I taped a 10-minute, late-in-the-week, Cardinals Underground (Cardinals Aboveground, in this case) on the charter flight. That should be posted soon.

– DRC, fully healthy according to the injury report, was sporting a mohawk colored red. He’s ready.

– Some fines were handed out after the playoff game, including Bertrand Berry getting hit for a $5,000 fine after his helmet-to-helmet hit on Aaron Rodgers in overtime that didn’t draw a flag. The other fines included Darnell Dockett getting one for $7,500 for his horsecollar tackle; Packers DT Cullen Jenkins $5,000 for roughing the passer when he grabbed Kurt Warner’s facemask; and Packers cornerback Atari Bigby was nailed for $5,000 when he grabbed the facemask of LaRod Stephens-Howling.

That’s it for now.

    Darren,
Do you have a pic of DRC’s mohawk? If so please post that.

Darren, I think I speak for everyone when I say that DRC’s red mohawk cannot go without being posted on your blog. That said, I believe it would be extremely motivating to see that young man sporting such a hair-do.

Beannie Ball – here we come – our offensive line has a big day following Russ Grimm’s plan – i keep saying we run block better than we pass block; let’s get two hundred yards on the ground. Beannie’s due for a couple long TD runs. Mostly i’m banking on our old guys: Warner, Kreider and Becht moving the chains; B-Train, B-Rob, Chike, Haggans, and Brownie to sack and stuff; and Morey, Graham, and Rackers for being Special. The confidence that Mr. Graves and Coach Whisenhunt have in these wiley veterans is now rewarding us fans as they keep delivering in the clutch – the bigger the game the more plays our old school veterans make. Add to that those young guys like A-Dub, Dansby, Q and Fitz and the rest of the gang and we’re ready to shock those Cajuns!

Wow, that is a legit mohawk, looks good! So Darren, there was no penalty for Adams’ facemask? I’m guessing since the league released a statement that they didn’t see him pull, twist, or yank it?

Once the league came out and said it was the right call not to flag Adams, they certainly can’t fine him for it.

I would think that is all speculation. I never say impossible. But it’s very, very unlikely.

    Hi,
I was wondering when the Cards are due back in Phx and if there is going to be any kind of “welcome back” at the airport wherein fans can show support?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Ginger

I didn’t get to see this until we had landed. Unfortunately, there wasn’t really a spot to show support at the airport.
