Grimm makes his pitch

Posted by Darren Urban on March 30, 2010 – 10:02 am

I mentioned yesterday assistant head coach Russ Grimm would be throwing out the first pitch at an Angels’ spring training game, in an outing set to honor Grimm’s election into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. So the office closed down for the afternoon and everyone went to see Grimm toss the baseball. Despite Grimm insisting he would have a hard time getting it to home plate, he of course made a fine pitch — caught by Angels’ starting pitcher Joe Saunders, who happened to grow up in Virginia rooting for the Redskins and Grimm (UPDATE: And here is the video of the pitch). Grimm also had a pre-game chat with Angels owner Arte Moreno and Royals special instructor George Brett (a baseball Hall of Famer and a football Hall of Famer hanging out!), including an inquiry by Brett of just why NFL coaches spend so many crazy hours in the office.

It’s a question I often wonder myself.

This is really awesome. I hope you do a post on Kurt Warner throwing out the first pitch at the Arizona Diamondbacks Opening Day.

Russ Grimm could be a head coach somewhere in the league, let alone a full offensive coordinator…we are lucky to have him!!

I hope he never posts another thing about Kurt Warner. That ship has sailed can we get over his awesomeness?

    Darren –

Thanks for this one. With all of this nonsense with Joey Porter lately, it’s nice to be reminded of the real good guys that represent this organization. Russ Grimm is one of the best!

Come on Darren, lets get some good Porter news out there. For all of you ready to throw him under the bus check out the latest. The story didn’t sound right from the beginning. His arresting officer is under investigation for hitting Porter in the face, has his own DUI issues and we still don’t have a blood alcohol level. This is going to end up with Porter getting an apology and a CHP getting suspended or worse.

Any chance the patrolman who pulled Porter over was a jealous 49ers fan?

Was there any doubt that he would throw a great pitch?

    Cmon man

Do you really think a cop would know who he is pulling over before he see’s a license? Do you really think someone would put their professional reputation on the line like that? Is it possible that Joey really was drinking and creating a public safety issue?
