Cards add two to roster

Posted by Darren Urban on May 17, 2010 – 2:13 pm

With OTAs beginning tomorrow, the Cardinals have added a couple of undrafted rookies to the roster by signing them Monday. One is wide receiver Deryn Bowser, who took part in minicamp on a tryout basis. The other is linebacker Chris Johnson, who told his hometown paper a couple weeks ago he was coming to Arizona after spending minicamp with the Bears on a tryout basis.

That gives the Cards 85 possible players to come for the voluntary OTAs (plus one unsigned restricted free agent — guard Deuce Lutui).

The Cards should just trade Deuce for a CB and be done with him with the signing of Hadnot and Faneca there is no need to deal with this any more the Cards need a CB in the worst way it’s the last hole to fill.GO CARDS!!!!!

add two but short a deuce

as I understand it they can’t trade him if he doesn’t sign the tender.

CB isn’t a great need. It is a little thin but our secondary was never the issue last year. We could never get to the QB fast enough. That’s why our secondary always got burned. If our guys can get to the QB in less than 3 seconds (which isn’t unreasonable) our DB’s job will be much easier.

Gotta keep a close eye on Bowser, he might try to pull something fishy and upset mario.

Darren, I saw a rumor, can’t remeber the source, but it stated that the Cards. may bve talking to the Skins on a deal where The Cards. would send Deuce to Skins for CB Carlos Rogers. Have you heard anything about this being an option? Skins could use OL help and with Faneca signed (great pick up), and Cards. could use another CB to go opp. of DRC. Rogers is pretty good. I do like Toler also and think he’d be good too, but Rogers would be a nice saftey net.

Talk about camp bodies, if Jason Voorhees is signed as a RB let me know.

Supposedly, he’s a real good slasher.

Darren, before the omnipresent Adrian Wilson black jersey screen disappears(not a moment too soon IMO)what do the tats on forearms read?

We’re not in desperate need for a corner. Greg Toler is going to be a star. Him DRC, Adrian and Kerry Rhodes, are defense is going to be so much better than last years. If we can’t get a 5th rounder or a decent backup just keep Deuce if he doesn’t sign soon he’ll practically play for nothing next year or sit out and not make a dime.

    Hey Darren.

I see some stuff on Dan Williams. a story about our 3rd rd picks knee. Anything about Daryl Washington. our 2nd pick?

man what the duece is up with duece met the guy before. real cool guy dont know the full story on it but hope everything comes out good. i wouldnt mind another cb though. and either train up levi brown or get rid of him please hope he does better on the other side of the line this year. cards all day !

Chris B. I beg to differ. Our secondary is a great need, our number 1 need as I see it today. They have cost us time and time again including the Super Bowl.
Yes our pass rush can be better. Were we at the bottom for sacks in the league last year? I agree our pass rush can be better but our secondary is thinner than Barney Fife, thin painfully thin.
Do not give up on Duece. He knows our system and hopefully will be back with us for the 2010 season. Running the ball and the clock also helps our secondary out greatly. Many teams have players staying away right now from off season work. Read about the 49ers. I would love for them to get rid of their players staying away right now, but it is only May so lets not get too excited just yet. Darren did an excellent article on how much money Duece will lose if he does not sign during June so if he does not sign by that date I will start to worry, but until then the big fella, Duece , is just a Cardinal on vacation like DD was last year. Go Cards!!!

I think that’s a 2+2 rumor because Rogers is also any unsigned RFA. Don’t know if that’s an option right now.

A good question. I’ll have to ask him.

Thank you Andy! I thought I was the only that felt that way! If they don’t take it down soon, I will never buy a black jersey.

Instead of trading Duece away for a corner, perhaps the cards should take a look at Shawn Springs.

I THINK WE NEED TO BE MORE WORRIED ABOUT WHO IS GONNA TAKE KURTS PLACE WE SHOULD HAVE TRYED TO DRAFT COLT MCCOY OR MAYBE WE SHOULD BE LOOKING AT BULGER, BECAUSE I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE FAITH IN LIENART BUT HE HAS GIVEN ME NO REASON.

Shoot this season is going to be a real circus for the cards!

Hey Darren any chance we could possibly trasde Duece for Greg Olsen from the Bears? They both stand to make the same cap momey for the next 2 years. Olsen was supposedly upset that he wouldn’t b featured all that much in Martz passing game and we have tried to find a athletic tight end for Lord knows how long. Run it by Rod Graves. See what he thinks. thanks.

Deuce is unsigned. The Bears don’t want to trade Olsen. Not happening.
