The Madden Cardinals
Posted by on July 15, 2010 – 9:35 amEA Sports just released its annual installment of its college football game this week and this year’s version of its NFL game — Madden 2011 — will be out in August. The rankings are out (HT to Mike Sando for pointing it out) and, not surprisingly, the Cardinals have taken a bit of a hit overall compared to last year’s game. The best players (ratings are on a 100 99 scale)? WR Larry Fitzgerald is a 97, G Alan Faneca is a 91, DE Darnell Dockett is a 94, S Adrian Wilson is a 96 and CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is a 90.
Some other key players: WR Steve Breaston is an 80 (Early Doucet is a 78); RB Beanie Wells is an 82 while Tim Hightower is a 79; QB Matt Leinart is an 75 with Derek Anderson a 67; G Reggie Wells is the second-highest offensive lineman at 80; LB Joey Porter is an 86 and LB Gerald Hayes is an 85 before a big drop-off at the position (Clark Haggans is next at 75); DE Calais Campbell is an 86; and S Kerry Rhodes is an 88 (Interestingly, Antrel Rolle is an 83 for the Giants). The whole list is here.
Of course, none of this means anything in real life, although it is fun to debate.

Nice to see the black jerseys, but a screenshot of AZ leading would be even better.

2nd highest lineman is an 80…. wow… Last year Duece and Levi were both above that mark. No love for the Cardinals

Hey people hated us a couple years ago and look where that got us, a blade of grass from a championship.
I hope that the LBs saw the article on Yahoo Sports NFL section the other day. They put our corp ranked at 31, that should be good motivation for those guys.

It is just crazy how real that screenshot looks. Fooled me for a second…

The real question is how would Darnal Dockett rate on grand theft auto. i am not saying he is a thug, he is just a bad a$$, oh and of course their are a few nflers that could definitely hang in the strip clubs of liberty city.

1. Ken looks scary as a cgi guy.
2. Losing to Tampa!?!?!?
3. Steve’s fro is little too perfect in the pic. He seems to like it a little messier.

This team is truly unproven. Its a different team. Sounds about right. All of us Cardinals fans, we’re the ones who know what we really have. The rest of the nation and Madden have a right to not be putting us in the upper class. And thats when we come in and whoop some a** on some folks
By Eazy E on Jul 15, 2010 | Reply
They put it at 99 because 100 is perfect and nobody’s perfect, and that wouldn’t be fair either.

hey darren, i dont know if ull know this but do you know if hightower will have a picture with his name on the roster

These ratings don’t bother me at all. Look at last year’s ratings when the game first came out, they had Early Doucet at 64, he climbed 15 points to 79 in one year after showing what he can do. Calais Campbell was a 74, now he’s an 86, went up 12 points. Greg Toler was a 59, now is a 75, went up 26 points. Ben Graham was 69, now is 83, also went up 14 points.
My point here, is that the unproven players get low ratings. However, we know that the Cardinals organization has an eye for talent, even hidden in late rounds, and the coaching and training sets nearly every player up for success. Once our low rated players get a chance to play (and our offensive line gets a chance to play running plays more, with a mobile quarterback), the ratings will go up.
I know I care more about us winning real games than video games anyway.

darren,
i had a question how is max hall doing you think he gets an offer after all skelton just signed and do you see any other moves to be done by the team.

The team lost 8 points, most by far(Philly lost 6), in composite scores. Wahington Redskins gained the most(+4) for basically hiring Shanahan, trading for McNabb and signing Larry Johnson, Jason Taylor and other malcontents/”crafty” veterans while releasing Jason Campbell, Ladell Betts. Joe Bugel and other unproven, yet young/SB coaching guys.
Good thing games aren’t played out on 8×11 college ruled paper but on 35″ 1080pi instead.

I’m not the only one that plays Madden with a Super Enhanced Cards roster, with all Cards players 7’0 tall and 100 everything. Of course I created some cool home and away alternate uniforms and use my own (high scoring)offense and (leave em with zero) defense. It’s THEE video game have fun with it.
It’s too bad EA Sports does not use John Madden’s commentary anymore.

There’s nothing new about most of the NFL sports meida and alot of other NFC West fans distane and total disrespect for this Cardinals team, it’s what most see and know as normal. A fact ! Their need to confirm that fluk team the world watched two years ago was just what they thought we were . A slip of the cog. You could hear the entire NFL world breathe a sigh of releif . When Santonieo Holmes caught the pass that made the world of football right and whole again. Any other out come would have been a disaster and cost millions of dollars in super bowl memorabilia. Millions of Steelers fans all over the world sell alot more $50 footballs. Yeah , it’s better for the rest of the NFL to just count Arizona out . Oh ,and any fluky undrafted QB who played for them as well because it will really screwed up the Hall of fame stats clear back to Bart Star. This message goes out to all the players who wear the red bird.Let’s change their world forever and sell a few world champion footballs of our own!!!

If you look at the ratings form this year compared to last year, the only place the Cards really took a hit is at QB, yet we lose 8 points in team rating? Oh well, guess I’ll just have to show the online community how good the Cars really are…

Darren,
Well I see the only reason why the cardinals would be ranked so low this year is because we lost a few key players on both off. and def. Would you agree?
By Stuart on Jul 16, 2010 | Reply
On that note too. nobody gives a team credit when they see alot of changes on a team. Heck I believe fully in the decisions that The Whiz and Graves make for this team. I love when the NFL doubts us, it makes us that much more hungry.

This still wont stop me from going undefeated with them! Haha. I hated it when they took away Warner online with the roster updates, but it really hasn’t slowed me down. Madden 2012 will have us at #1 <– My Madden prediction

Honestly, no I have not! Maybe I confused him with someone else along the way. Hey, I actually think it looks pretty cool on Madden. Together with Fitz and his dreads, I’d say we have the coolest looking WR’s in the league! They look pretty good catching passes, too.
