Beanie, Watson inactive again

Posted by Darren Urban on September 19, 2010 – 8:29 am

It wasn’t even close today for RB Beanie Wells. The first time he emerged from the locker room, he was in sweatpants, meaning his bad knee probably didn’t respond well this weekend. So Wells is inactive, and the Cards’ running game falls on Tim Hightower, Jason Wright and LaRod Stephens-Howling again.

The rest of the inactive list looks a lot like last week, including nose tackle Gabe Watson. The others sitting today:

  • QB John Skelton
  • CB A.J. Jefferson
  • S Hamza Abdullah (hamstring)
  • CB Brandon McDonald
  • C Ben Claxton
  • WR Early Doucet (hernia surgery)

    So Darren,

Has there even been an official diagnosis on Beanie’s knee? I may have missed it somewhere if there was. The last I recall hearing/reading, was that the MRI’s and the other medical exams found nothing wrong; although, Beanie was saying his knee was bruised. When watching the play in which it actually happened, I didn’t even notice anything out of the ordinary, other than the defender grabbing his ankle to take him down. I guess, I’m (along with, I’m assuming, alot of other folks) just wondering what actually happened here and if there should really be any long term concerns….

he won’t be cut….these messages are just getting worse and worse…Tim Hightower is the teams starting RB….so he dropped it twice last week…he still had a good game with TD….I think Hightower will have a much better year then Wells this year…..even if Wells ever gets on the field……Hightower and Stephens-Howling are the future of this team at RB…they will be a great 1, 2 punch for years to come….

The Cardinals can pull off a win today though it won’t be easy. Dockett will be playing with a lot of heart today.

I am sure there has been an official diagnosis. Whether it was made public or not is a different story. Beanie called it a bruise. That’s all we have to go on.

I have had a mild knee sprain like that and it took me 4 weeks before I was back to 100%…better not to rush him back cause we’ll need him down the stretch!

HUH! WHERE IN THE DO THEY DO THAT @? WHERE IS IT THAT U HAVE 1 YOUR BEST PLAYERS DURING THE PRESEASON NOT PLAY & HE IS TOTALLY HEALTHY. THIS IS SOME BULL, I AM TRIPPING CAUSE HE HAS BEEN GETTING PLAY LIKE THIS HIS WHOLE CAREER & IM REALLY WONDERING IF THE CARDS NO WHAT THEY’RE DOIN. I MADE THIS COMMENT B4 ABOUT HOW U CAN HAVE 1 MAN TAKE ON A DOUBLE OR TRIPLE TEAM EVERY SINGE PLAY & U DONT SEND AN ALL OUT BLITZ BUT AS SOON AS U TAKE GAE OUT OF THE GAME 2 THINGS R 4 SURE 2 HAPPEN, 1) THEY RU ST8 UP THE MIDDLE & 2) THE CARDS SEND AN ALL OUT BLITZ. COME’ON MAN! LETS DO SOME SIMPLE MATH NOW. 5 OFFENSIVE LINEMAN/ 3 DEFENSIVE LINEMEN. THIS MEANS EACH DEFENSIVE END HAS AN OT, YOUR NOSE TACKLE IS OCCUPYING THE CENTER & 2 OFFENSIVE GUARDS @ THE SAME TIME. U MEAN 2 TELL ME THAT IF U SEND A NICE LIL BLITZ THAT U WILL HAVE MOR 1 ON 1 SITUATIONS ON THE DEFENSE. HELL IF IT TAKES THAT MANY PPL 2 HOLD 1 GUY THEN EITHER SEND MORE PPL ON A BLITZ WHILE HE IS N THE GAME OR PUT HIM @ DEFENSIVE END. THERE IS NO TE OR OT IN THIS LEAGUE THAT CAN HOLD HIM. OR IS IT THAT U REALLY NO THAT THIS ROOKIE ALONG WITH ALAN BRANCH CAN HOLD UP A PILE LIKE GABE CAN. CAUSE IF U DO THINK ABOUT WHATS GOIN ON WHEN THE CARDS TAKE GABE OUT THE GAME OTHER TEAMS RUN ST8 UP THE MIDDLE EVERY TIME. THE CARDS HAVE GODZILLA WEARING A #98 CARDS JERSEY BUT U KEEP HIM N A CAGE, U HAVE 2 LOOK @ EVERY TEAM LIKE ITS JAPAN & LET GODZILLA LOOSE!!!

Derek Anderson is a dullard, what an awful interception! And so far it looks like the team doesn’t want to tackle and there are too many penalties. Let’s go AZ – play some ball!! LS-H is a mini-meast.

This is crazy. This is old style Cardinals ball.

But seriously though, Whiz needs to get his arse out there and start jawing with the ref’s, even if he is wrong. He needs to back his team up.

I want to know why Dan Williams is active and Gabe Watson is not it is making me ill. I watch Dan get man handled in the middle of that line and its only taking a single team coverage to stop him He IS A ROOKIE AND IS PLAYING LIKE ONE. Gabe is a Veteran and he clogs the middle and it takes double and triple teams to keep him in check and Then that frees up DOUBLE D and DOUBLE C to get in there and create havoc. I am sick of the politics that come with a first rounder I know for a fact that in practice Gabe Dominates and the players are like you and I they only will stand up to their bosses so much. These players need to stand up and say WTF. Gabe deserves to be in this game and Fans shouldnt stand for this either.

And just for the record, I’m not saying the dreaded “this is the same ol’ Cardinals”, I’m just saying they’re playing old style Cardinals ball today, with lot’s of penalties. Although, it does seem to me that this head ref has been sorta penalty happy in the past. Some look legit, and others seem a bit ticky tack. The unnecessary roughness against Toler may have been legitimate, but then so would have been the shot on LSH when he was stood up and then popped pretty hard. Even the crowd let out an “Ohhhhhhh”. But no call.

All in all, seems like another ugly game, so far.

poor poor poor, why is Darnell getting all that money? Has he even made a tackle, pressure, or even gotten close enough to the QB to yell at him? What a dud. The defense is pathetic. Can’t rush the passer. DRC is as overrated as OBAMA – just pathetic. He plays 10 yards off of R White and backs up 10 yards at the snap. WTF? Get in his face and hit him! Throw the timing off! Give the rushers a little more time! Even when we blitz we don’t come within 5 yards of the QB. Season over. Stick a fork in em. 7-9 here we come. And I say this – ugh. Imagine the sound of steam escaping and you pretty much have a summary of what the Cardinals were today. Not throwing in the towel after two weeks but I will reiiterate that Anderson has not impressed me at all at any point since the day he became a Cardinal and I do not believe that we have a QB this year. And when you don’t have a QB, well,…it’s just real hard to win. There ain’t much else to say. The Falcons didn’t appear to be anything more than a middle-of-the-latter team coming into this game and they just pasted us all over the field. If they’re middle of the latter, then where are the Cardinals???

Some of you have to realize that 41 points given up has hardly anything to do with Andersons performance. I understand he could make some adjustments, but those were tipped interceptions by some great defense of playing on the other side. This is not the first time the Cardinals have been shut down like this, and obviously not the last. There are 14 more R-Season games to go, either Cheer for your team or jump on a bandwagon and shut up! I for one will cheer under any circumstances! GO CARDS!

I agree with Mike. I’m getting sick of coach making bad player personnel decisions. Whiz’s ego needs to be put in check. As a fan, I am sick of watching the offense struggle under Derrick Anderson. My Pop Warner quarterback has a better passer rating than Anderson. Who was it that decided Anderson was the man. I have the utmost respect for the staff, but the defense will never hold up for 4 quarters if the offense can’t convert on 3rd down. Looking at all the penalites and inconstant play of the team. It looks to me as though the coaching staff lost this team in the off season / pre-season with the way they handled Boldin, Rolle, and Leinart. Especially Leinart. I always though Whiz had a lot of class, but as the season unfolds, his armour isn’t so shiny anymore.
Being a Cardinal fan living in 49er country is bad enough, but going through the embarrassement of Derrick Anderson and a poorly coached team is worse.

Stop being so excited about potential and Get it together Whiz !!!

    Darren,
Say what you want about Dennis Green, but he could draft. Cardinals are losing talent at an alarming rate. They are failing in free agency, they are failing in the draft and they can’t recognize talent on their own team (see Dansby). They have the worst talent in the league at TE and linebacker. So you have to ask why do they run a 3/4 defense? Oh by the way Dan Williams is a BUST!

  44. By Lone-Eagle on Sep 19, 2010 | Reply

Talk is cheap, interviews are a waste of time. All we heard as fans this week was “90” dedicating this game to his mother, as well as his plans for the Falcons. We heard about Whiz’s homecoming. We heard how Andersons accuracy issues were addressed, as well as Hightowers fumbling issue was addressed. We have been hearing about how great this new offensive line is, especially with Faneca, as well as them implementing the run and becoming more like a West Coast Steeler team. The only positive in this game was Hightower, end of story. I am from Tucson. All week long, alll I have been listening to is how the Iowa Hawkeyes were going to come into Az and beat the Wildcats! Well I am sure everyone already knows that story by now, 34-27! I also have been subject to The Cardinals were going to lose to the Falcons. I think everyone in Az expected alot more from this team. Granted therewere several questionable calls, but the refs had nothing to do with missed tackles, Ryan having all day long to stand in the pocket and just destroy the defense, The il-advised and lousy passes, the int’s, the complete domination up front by both the Falcons offense and defensive lines. Keith was absolutely terrible!! I think we will be lucky to go .500 this year. There was no HEART today. It seems as though the heart of this team retired with Warner! We have along way to go Red Army. Let us see what happens next week.

I posted they were going up the gut and even inserted a link from their website. Heck I can be a scout for this team because they act like they didn’t know what was going on.

Looking ahead, we’ll be lucky to pull off an 8 and 8 year – so, today was an accurate reflection of how inconsistent we’ve become since Warner left the building. The funny thing is, we’re in a weak division and it’ll be up for grabs thru the end of the season. We should have creamed the Rams. And, we’re lucky to be 1 and 1 with the lowly Raiders coming into our house. But if we lose that game, THAT’s when the Max Hall heat will really be turned up. Starting a rookie qb won’t be a stretch (for us) anymore…

It’s funny how a fan voices his opinion and others who can’t take it call it bandwagon. Are you kidding me? Anderson over Leinart? I watched Payton Manning pick apart the Giants tonight and threw most of his balls under 10 yards. Funny…didn’t throw the long ball and still kicked !@#. Fact is, the team is to blame for the !@# kicking we received tonight. We new what we had with Anderson coming from Clevlend. He still is a 50% guy. 50% doesn’t help the offense move balls. In preseason, Leinart was given 2 preseasons games before he was pulled for not having chemistry with the offense. Here we are in week 2, and Anderson still does not have chemistry. As for the defense. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. DRC shutdown corner? Porter? Docket? Wilson? What leadership. Atlanta took you to school with a 3rd string.. Whiz, cardinal fans believe in you. With all the talent on this team, please take a step back and start holding these players accountable. Maybe you need to continue with positional compitition in the regular season.

If we are going to continue to watch the press conference interviews with DA telling us he will have to get better as a leader, then let us trust in Coach Whiz decision , which was to bring DA in as a back up, YES, SIT HIM DOWN. I would rather lose games with Max Hall and wait until he gets better. 50% completeion for a career makes me think how many other interviews have gone the same. “As a leader I have to get better”Save the time and copy the interviews and keep showing them. Believe me I was on every word that came out is mouth, ready to analyze and criticize but he said everything right…and the keyword for me was when he said humbling experience. Ok, he might of felt that a$$ kicking.

I couldn’t believe what I saw yesterday with the defense especially the line….not one tackle behind the line of scrimmage. Haggen got one tackle on a scramble right before Ryan was to take off and that was it, I think.

just for the record we took some pretty bad beatings even when warner was the quarterback so this isn’t exactly new territory for the Cardinals.

as far as fans sitting back and cheering and never criticizing bad play that is ridiculous. As fans we have the right to criticize mistakes and bad play. when a fan pays 100 bucks for a ticket that can easily be 20% of his take home pay. it may be 100% of his discretionary income. he or she has earned the right to vent their frustrations.

The way we were gashed in the run game yesterday by a third string running back (that just made himself a ton of money), Watson better be active this week.

And as much as I like Bryan Robinson the person, at 36 he just can’t hold up at the NT position. I’d like him playing a backup end (which is why he was brought here in the first place), but I think we need to let Williams and Watson take all the NT snaps this week.
