Tim v Beanie, round one

Posted by Darren Urban on December 17, 2010 – 6:36 am

A beautiful day at University of Phoenix Stadium. The sun is shining (which you can see, so it was before the Rams game a couple weeks ago) and the team’s top two running backs decide to sprint 40 yards. Side by side at the same time.

Most call this a race. Now that the “event” has hit Youtube, not so much, at least not for Tim Hightower and Beanie Wells after Hightower nips Wells at the end.

“It wasn’t even a challenge,” Wells said. “We were just getting warm. Running and getting warm.”

“Hey man … we’re going to race again,” said Hightower, who said he’s seen the video. “It was close. There’s more to come. There’s more to come.”

Still waiting for that DRC-Breaston main event, by the way … (H/T to reader Ross for telling me of the video)

Wow 4.43 impressive i didnt think Timmy was nearly as fast as Beanie. He has gotten so much better as an overall back this year. 5.2 ypg says it all

Tim Hightower has made me very appreciative for him and his duties this year… He has earned my vote for Cards offensive MVP, He is very consistant lately and his level of play has elevated to one of the better backs in the NFL

On the opposite end of the spectrum, which duo would you NOT want to see?
    Dan Williams vs. Gabe Watson?

    RE: 40 yd matchup

I’d watch Williams/Watson. Although Gabe much more athletic than you think.

He will be a restricted free agent, according to current FA rules.

I’ve been wondering how the Cards have not been “mathematically eliminated” from playoff contention since Seattle & St. Louis would both own the tie-breaker over the Cards.

I finally figured it out… The Seahawks and Rams would both need to lose the next two weeks and tie their head-to-head matchup in week 17. Then if the Cards won their final 3 they would be division champs!

Trig LOL man I was wondering the same thing about the DJ at the stadium during the games, I’m getting tired of all the same music being played. LOL Man its been the same since UOP opened!! I think that we have just found the X factor!!! Thats why we continue to throw the ball when we obviously have four capable backs.

I’m down on skelton at all. I think he should remain starter and let him get the experience he needs.

Cool video… Since you’re throwing out team match ups for fun, how ’bout Fitz vs A-Dub in a 40 yard dash and then vertical jump competition? Go Cards!

i think hightower is a great halfback and dont know why is still underated in fans opinion..i think he is a complete back who is great in evrything power blocking good speed and receiving skills..if he had been chosen in round one or two he certainly would have received more appreciation from fans

    Darren,

Are the Cardinals looking into a new contract for Hightower? If so how lengthy of a contract, do you think, that Hightower will recieve?

I’m thinking another 4 Year deal, but I would like to hear your thoughts.

    Thanks as always!

He already has a House next to the Whiz’

Whiz stop shopping for things, u need Milk,Eggs Etc. Go Next Door!
    until we Sign Him!!

P.s U know the Whiners! will also be there every Day until he Signs!!

    Lets Go BigRed!

An if we don’t Sign Mcnabb The QB pool is:

Tarvris Jackson,Troy.Smith,B.Gradkowski,Dennis Dixon, Kerry Collins, Charles Batch, an M.Bulger Not A Great List!!!

    trigidy,

Of your list, we would have won this division in 2010 with Smith, Gradkowski, Collins or Bulger.

As for me, I’d target Bulger in free agency and go quarterback in Round 1 if Newton is there. Otherwise, I pick the best OT or pass rushing LB in the draft and look for Locker in Round 2 or even Round 3. Locker screams “Jimmy Clausen slide” to me this year — he’s going to have an impressive combine and workout day…

    RE: DRC/Breaston

When DRC was a rookie, he and Breaston jawed back and forth who would win a race and said they were going to do it at some point. I’m still waiting.

Whoa that was tight. Tim is very good running back. I didn’t realize Tim was that fast. The cardinals are blessed with 2 great backs. Darren do you think beanie lost some speed with all those Blimpies sandwiches he promoted? :-)

  30. By CMacyn on Dec 17, 2010 | Reply

^^^^LOL^^^^^ so we have two pretty fast backs and a very fast back we should be killing D’s its the O line fellas.

Wow I can believe the McNabb talk is around again. Have people not been seeing how bad he is playing even after getting a big contract. Its just as unrealistic as it was before to get him. Maybe there will be talk of getting Peyton Manning since they havent extended him yet! LETS GET MANNING IN AZ!!!! com’on man

to me that race shows once again tim is more determined, works harder and wants to win more.Beanie has potential but he hasnt impressed me too much yet.especially the things he says off the field.he should get a muzzle for xmas.

Tim is a beast, I tried to tell you cardinal fans that didn’t believe in him, 4.43 that is usually beanie fast but Tim is fast too he can run look at the film.
