Kolb inactive, Heap to play, Bridges starts

Posted by Darren Urban on November 27, 2011 – 9:31 am

Quarterback Kevin Kolb will remain inactive another week with his toe/foot injuries, so — as expected — John Skelton will start with Rich Bartel as the backup. The Cardinals will have tight end Todd Heap back, although how much will have to be seen. He was active the last game against the Rams and only played a couple of plays. Fellow tight end Rob Housler remains out. Tackle Brandon Keith is active, but after his concussion, it will be veteran Jeremy Bridges starting on the right side.

Fullback Anthony Sherman finally returns to the starting lineup, with Reagan Maui’a inactive.

Besides Kolb, Housler and Maui’a, the rest of the Cards’ inactives today:

  • WR Stephen Williams
  • S Kerry Rhodes (foot)
  • LB Joey Porter (knee)
  • T D’Anthony Batiste

One other good nugget: Fox play-by-play man Sam Rosen is working his fourth Cards’ game of the year today. In each of the previous three, Patrick Peterson has a punt return for a touchdown. So take that for what it’s worth (which is coincidence, but still, a fun fact.)

Hope the Rosenkarma continues. Good test for Skelton and the defense today. Hope the D continues to play well.

Beanie has to get going to take heat off Skelton.
Would love to see a game where it all clicks and the biggest concern for me in the fourth water is what’s for dinner! Longing for a blow out!!

    Hey Darren,

Good news on Sherman. He was really starting to get some looks in the passing game prior to being injured.

Do you have any specifics on why Stephen Williams isn’t seeing any time whatsoever?

Great nugget on Rosen. I’ll book a PP return TD!

    Go Cards!

    RE: Stephen Williams

He simply hasn’t gotten high enough on the depth chart. I don’t know if it is a consistency thing. Other issue is that he doesn’t do well on special teams, something DeMarco Sampson does.

Good call on the PP punt return Darren! Haha that was unreal. Even though this year is just about lost I’m pumped for the future of this team! Watch out 69ers! Hahaha

Major Props to Beanie, Peterson, Acho and Washington, all played great.
Cards appear to have found one OLB in Acho, Washington will be all pro next year.

Our apparently great punter from the Rams 40yard line kicks it in the endzone on the full by a couple of yards, when are they going to bring back Ben Graham, that was a guaranteed inside 5 downed punt with Ben…

Damn Daren!!! Calling the run back BEFORE THE GAME!!!!!

Dude, RUN (do not walk) to a casino and pull a slot or two!!!!

U may live another 20 years and not look so prescient!! Gongrats to you (Tho I suspect that, like me, you think it’s more about PP than you)

If only Ken W. had been confident in John Skelton before he paid Kolb 20 + million dollars for a 1 – 6 record. See what happens when you let the team win and not make Johnny S. throw practically the entire game like last week. Way to go Johnny S., you now have a 3 – 1 record this year.

Last week i asked have anyone seen BEANIE? boom! he have a record breaking game. so my next question is have anyone seen FIZT? HEY IT’S WORTH A TRY. PP21 YOU ARE TRULY A SUPERSTAR IN THE MAKING.

With Johnny S. or Richard Bartel we have a chance against Dallas, with Kolb we don’t. Ken W. used my phrase about “Kolb would be a sitting duck.”

4 of the next 5 games are at home. Can we win out and go 9 – 7 ?

Hi Darren, nice article as always. I had a quick question for you. With all the speculation about Peyton Manning being on the trading block, is there any chance the cards could make a push for him. If he can pass a physical how could you not want him on your team. Sure we just got kolb but he’s no Peyton not even a 75% healthy Peyton. Peyton also has been quoted as saying he would love to throw the ball to Fitz. If they had Peyton they would automatically be a front runner for the Super Bowl which I hate to say it, but I doubt we will ever be that with kolb. We would also be able to dump kolb on a Miami or a team like them and get our draft choices back to be able to make the trade make sense. Your thoughts?

    RE: Peyton

I am guessing if Manning can still play, he will remain a Colt.

Now That Kolb is back more likely then not we will lose he always find ways to give the to Dallas, I am very dissatisfied with Wiz’s decision it as season ticket holder I do know if I will continue supporting him or the. I have supported the team since their arrival in 1988 and I would hate to give up my season tickets over this; I know we gave Kolb large pay contract but it does not make a QB which he has proven he will never at leased Skellton can get better but they will help him along so that they don;t look at for the poor decision they made on signing Kolb for starter pay when he will never be worth back up pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have two season tickets on the north end zone sec. 118row 21seats17, 18. Iwould like a resond from you.
    Thanks
