Heap still sitting, Skelton to back up Kolb

Posted by Darren Urban on October 14, 2012 – 11:30 am

Tight end Todd Heap remains sidelined today with his bad knee, while quarterback John Skelton is active today for the first time since hurting his ankle and will back up starter Kevin Kolb. The Cards do have tight end Jim Dray back to help at tight end.

Injuries are a big reason for a chunk of inactives today. Linebacker Reggie Walker (concussion), fullback Anthony Sherman (knee) and cornerbacks Michael Adams and Greg Toler (both hamstrings) are all out. Also sitting out is QB Ryan Lindley — natural with Skelton back — and guard Senio Kelemete.

That means wide receiver LaRon Byrd will be active for the first time in his NFL career. Defensive tackle Darnell Dockett is active.

Has there been a game in the last two seasons when all 4 TEs were healthy?

heap…not any good if he is always and I mean always hurt. How many games as he played since he signed? I’ hope they put a tight end over both tackles unless we will definitely see Skeleton play…mario williams is great

we stink! THe OL is horrible. I cannot believe how bad we look in just the 1st qtr, esp after 10 DAYS to prepare. What the heck?
As I feared, regardless how bad Buffalo has been, good luck using that to your advantage when you snap the ball and the defender is in your face, past your line already. We are screwed. WTH have the coaches been doing all week?

    WHERE IS THE DEFENSIVE PRESSURE????

  6. By dan on Oct 14, 2012 | Reply

Feely kicks a 61 yard now pressure kick, then chokes on the gimmy game winner….loser. Oh, and our offensive line is disgusting. Birdwells are too cheap to go find an offensive lineman or two. There goes the season.

Law of averages moves closer to the median.

    Which of course, sucks.

You feel so good that Skelton is back !!!! Are you crazy? He can’t shine Kolb’s shoes. Kolb is the starte. skelton is the backup. That’s how it should be . Get past it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Powell looked good rushing, especially considering the non-existent lin in front of him.

Great fake punt run by Johnson

Is Kolb and Rhodes going to be ok???

What the Cards should draft next year….
    Rd 1 OL
    Rd 2 OL
    Rd 3 OL
    Rd 4 OL
    Rd 5 OL
    Rd 6 OL
    Rd 7 OL

How can Feely hit 61 yd field goal and miss a 22 yd one….???

This was a bad loss as the Seahawks won.

Another ugly game the Cards should have won.

William Powell should’ve been in the game during OT. Ken W. still refuses to see the obvious – WILLIAM POWELL IS OUR BEST RUNNINGBACK, he would’ve caught that screen pass LSH dropped. Our head coach is to blame for us losing today, he is either unable or unwilling(too stubborn) to make the better decisions that gives us a better chance to win.

Skelton is a typical backup………he is and always has been an interception waiting to happen.

Not a good game at all the defense played well at times, but Kolb was never given a chance to make a decent throw. No oline as usual yiiiiiikes.WiPo looked good, but WAY too many missed oppurtunities, I feel like doo doo after both of these games and I am sure the team and fans do also , not a good way to head into minn sf and gb, YIKES PLEASE GET BETTER GUYS , CARDS WILL TRIUMPH!!!!

Guess the playbook calls for the QB to stare down the tight end on the crossing route. I would say we have got that one down pat. All and all a well deserved loss.

Look if Jay Feely makes the game-winning field goal we wouldn’t be having his conversation right now. Its hard for me to blame John Skelton especially since he put us in a position to win, and we just didn’t cap it off.

is heap going to play again this year? I mean it’s been a month. Was it take bad of a cheap shot in the Patriots game? I’d rather change that TE route to a simple curl for 5-6 yards. With no time to throw downfield, the safety doesn’t have to worry about the WRs on the outside.
