Great comments. Is there a way you could forward some of that info to Darren or the press secretary ?

This year's draft will be strong in linemen - not Quarterbacks. We need to take the A & M kid, move Levi over to right tackle (and/or, let him compete with Massie for that spot) and keep bringing along Potter. Then we might really have something with the run game and Kolb at the helm for play action and the no huddle.

yes, I have confessed to being dead solid wrong about Manning. Guilty as charged. After Manning went elsewhere, was there really a choice of what they needed to do with Kolb? No, there really was not. After what they invested to get him here, they were not going to give up on him after one season. Not only would they have looked like total idiots for being so wrong in their own judgement, they also would have been left with virtually nothing at QB going into training camp. Once they lost out on Manning - which seemed inevitable all along - they had little choice but to give Kolb the bonus and hope like hell he would pan out. Just imagine how foolish they would have looked if they cut Kolb, he went somewhere else and actually became the winning QB we hoped he would be! THAT would have been even worse.

And, right now, could things have turned out any worse???

Am not suprised to read that Kolb is being put on IR...there is no sense in
asking him to try to get back when there is nothing on the line this season.

@walnutbackpack, I don't know where you get your info from that Kevin missed alot of games when he was with Philly too, as you say in your post. I keep reading this from many fans here who claim that . Being a fan of the Eagles I can tell you for a certainty that is false information.

He sat behind McNabb for 3 seasons. A design by the coaching staff. So if you are referring to those games as missed due to injury you are dead wrong. None of them were due to injuries. But a coaches decision to stick with his long time franchise QB.

In 2010's opener against gGren Bay he suffered his first concussion. He missed the following weeks game. But that was the ONLY game he missed due to his concussion. He was cleared to play the next week. But due to the performance of Vick in his replacment of Kevin in the GB game, they made the deciision to stick
with Mike. Again, that decision had nothing to do with Kolbs concussion injury. And everything to a coaches decision to go with the hand he felt gave them the best chance to win games. Just as Whisenhunt die when naming John the starter for this season.

Whether the Cardinals choose to bring him back is certainly their decision. I don't think Kevin would be adverse to restructuring his contract to remain with the team.
Given his feeling for the organization. And as already pointed out there really is no sure thing comming out in this years draft. And unless your willing to opt for one of the unsuccessful ones that are out there than I see your best option is to make a reasonable offer that will allow Kolb to want to renegociate his current contract...and remain with the team.

To be fair, aren't you one of the posters who's acknowledged on this board that you didn't believe Manning would be able to come back as strong as he has? I was in that camp. Sure, it looks now like he would've been a great addition... but in March when we had to decide whether or not to pay Kolb his roster bonus, no one knew what to expect. And if we had paid a gazillion dollars to get him, and then he didn't perform to expectations (or got hurt behind our O-line), we'd be in the same position we are now (or worse, as we might have skimped elsewhere to come up with the $ to pay Manning).

Hindsight is 20/20. We of course should've drafted Adrian Petersen as well. Bowie over Jordan... Tom Brady in the late rounds... sports are full of woulda/coulda/shoulda.

What I find funny is that people still are saying "we should have gotten Manning". Do you honestly think Manning would have lasted all 16 games, given how poorly the offensive line played at the beginning of the season? ...honestly?!?! My guess is Manning probably only would have lasted 4 games and we would have been 4-0 and Skelton and Lindley still would have led us to 0-12. Then we'd by crying over paying Manning 20 million for 5 games. Saying " this guy just had neck surgeries... No way was he gonna be the Manning of old." Everyone needs to step back and look at the bigger picture. There are no Lucks or RGIII's in the draft. There are no free agents. Who would you want next year ( that isn't going to cost 11 million? Keep in mind new players usually come with contract extensions and bonuses) my guess is anybody you bring in that is a rookie won't be ready (not in this QB draft class at least) and if there is a big name free agent what makes you think he won't cost us a lot of money to win his services. I guess my point is, it won't matter who you bring in here if you don't address the line first. Address the line this offseason, address QB and RB next off season.

I would like Kolb to come back under a restructured contract. Everyone talks about the sacks Kolb took, a large part was the offensive line, but it was also Kolb's tendency to hold the ball waaay too long. Kolb is a quality back up quarterback and would be ranked is the bottom ten starting quarterbacks in the league.
