@Dobler...LOL! Sounds like you've been playing Madden football too long and don't get out of the arcade enough to watch QBs from other teams perform, or look at old footage of Kurt Warner. The greats like Brady, Brees, Rogers, P Manning make it look easy and that's why they get the big bucks. K. Kolb doesn't fall into that group but even if he had the potential he can't stay healthy for even half a season which makes him a costly liability; that's what I call "dead" cap money...when we consistently have to pay a single player season after season to sit on the bench. I know Mr. B. is stuck on "fixing" Kolb but it's going to take a wizard with a magic wand and an endless supply of bubblewrap. The Cards need Fitz to fill the stands and sell jerseys; he is the reason people go see the Cards play. Looks like Mr. Keim has his job cut out for him and is going to need a HC with some contacts in the NFL, clout, and an ability to wheel and deal for draft picks...which leaves Grudens, Haley, Carmichael, Kyle Shanahan (not available till at least after next season)McCoy..some established names...which are beyond our budget:(

IF the new HC is willing to play a West Coast Offense (WCO) derivative, keep Kolb and renegotiate his contract down to market levels of a back-up QB as his numbers (except for the Philly game) were merely passable, IF the new HC wants a more sophisticated and varied offensive attack (read-run-pass (RGIII, Wilson, Kaepernick), timing pass attack (Brady, Peyton, Rodgers), vertical attack (Brady, Eli, Rodgers, Matt Ryan, etc) , then they will cut Kolb.

Kolb fans still have not recognized that Whiz finally relented in the first Seattle game from trying to force Kolb to play Kurt Warner's offensive passing attack. Once Skelton got injured, Whiz had Kolb running only WCO type plays which Kolb has done well in since his college days at Houston and at Philly under Reid. But make no mistake, Kolb was also injury prone in Philly and that is why Philly was so willing to trade him.

Darren,
In regard to QB's and with all the technology available today, is there not some kind of drill or test scouts can utilize to determine 2 things...can a QB look off receivers, and determine whether a receiver is open or not? The good ones can do it and the bad ones cannot. Seems like there should be some way to do this...am I wrong?

That cap isn't as hard as it looks. Cut Kolb now don't continue to be idiots. Bradley should be cut also. Get Kerry a new deal and the other ones are fine. That frees up so much space right there. That doesn't even include some free agents that we should let test the waters and possibly go and we better go after Jake Long with our horrific o-line. Why the hell is that even asked how pathetic our o-line is.

I don't know if Grimm had to convince him but clearly the Cards took longer than you would have thought to adjust the scheme. As for Massie, I do not know if that would be an option.

RE: Cap questions

1) I do not know, but I don't see why not.
2) I'd have to look it up. He doesn't have a big number, IIRC.
3) "Dead money" is the term used for cap space taken up by a player no longer on the roster. For instance, if a player signed a 3-year deal worth $3 million salary each year and a $6 million signing bonus, his yearly cap number is $5M ($3M salary plus prorated $2M SB each year). Say he was cut after the first year. Salaries aren't guaranteed. But there would be $4M left of prorated signing bonus that would be "dead money" against the cap.
