A realistic look at the Cardinals draft needs and the possible players available in the latest 7 round mock draft board:

RD1- Eric Fisher, OT
This is a no brainer. Fisher will shut down any backside pass rush. He could be the best left tackle in the draft. Impossible to get around. A must pick for Cards.

RD2- Eddie Lacy, RB. Or, Alex Okafor, DE Watch: http://youtu.be/JGo3BVi_7Do
If Okafor falls to the top of round two, the Cards should run the pick card to the podium and take him over Lacy. Datone Jones is another good pass rusher and is a possibility here. If neither fall to the Cards in round 2, then I say grab Lacy. He will instantly upgrade the running game and take pressure off whoever is playing QB. Cardinals have never had a back like Lacy.

RD3- Larry Warford, G, or Dallas Thomas, G/T.
Both of these guys are road graders and will instantly upgrade the interior offensive line. Dallas can play guard or tackle. One of these studs should be on the board at the top of round three.

RD4- Zac Dysert, QB or Landry Jones, QB
Cards should bring in a young QB to compete with Kolb and Hoyer. This draft class of QB does not have first round talent, so the Cards should not reach and bypass quality players just to grab a QB in a weak class. Cards must take best available athletes in the first three rounds.

RD5- Kevin Reddick, LB, or A.J. Klein, LB
Cards may switch to a 4-3 defensive and they need a tough guy in the middle. Both Kevin and A.J. fit the mold. One of them should be standing at the top of round 5.

RD6- Duke Williams, SS, or Jonathan Cyprien, SS
Cards safeties are getting older and this may be a need pick. The risk is, both of these players could be gone before round 6. But if one is still on the board, I pull the trigger.

RD7- Vance McDonald, TE, or Michael Williams, TE
There is such a large group of quality tight ends in this draft, it is very possible a few really good one will fall into round 7. Both of these guys are solid. McDonald is a better receiver and Williams a better run blocker. Both good values for round 7.

Note: If the Cardinals go pass rusher in round two with Okafor or Jones, then I would expect them to find a good running back in free agency. Rashard Mendenhall of the Steelers would make sense. He is a game breaker and is familiar with Arian's offense. Rashard had injuries to overcome, but when healthy, he is a game breaker.

John, I saw North and South.......and I wouldn't give a dime, certainly not a 2nd for ANY of the QBs...........Jones has all the tools.......had them for years......each year people waited for him to deliver, then made excuses when he didn't......no heart, no brain, no what?, The guy CAN'T deliver......he doesn't need a coach, he needs a dad or a shrink.........He's the one guy I wouldn't touch witha 10 foot poll. Wilson; another guy......IMO.

People think QB is the answer ......... and in my opinion they don't even know the problem.........Alex Smith was a TOTAL BUST......until he got an O-line and good O scheme/coaching.........KAPERNICK is an under-drafted phenom......behind the best O-Line and with great coaching.........WILSON is a greatly under drafted phenom.......behind a great O-Line and good O coaching/Scheme......BARKLEY was the Heisman winner of the future with Kalil on the O-Line......and a great disappointment when Kalil went pro the O-Line got it's lunch eaten, still GREAT when they could beat up UTAH's Line and he threw 6 touchdowns.............

Kolb may be injury prone or unlucky, ask an orthopedist, I would think.......but for the last 2 years NOBODY knows what any of the QBs can do behind an NFL O-line..........and, QB is NOT THE ANSWER.......and NO ONE can be sure IT IS THE PROBLEM.

I still say put Skelton and Lindley on the North or South and no one can tell the difference.

The PROBLEM is the O-Line and you can't even start with QB until that is fixed.......I say draft Fisher and a G or C in the 2nd.

Scott H,

As much as I hate the Seahawks, they have done a great job in the draft

Steals like Wilson in the 3rd and Sherman in the 5th, Last year, Bobby Wagner flashed bigtime at the senior bowl and the seahawks grabbed him in the second. Not to mention that 2010 draft of Okung, Earl Thomas, Golden Tate, and Kam chancellor.

As I have said many times, the key to turning around a franchise is drafting well. But they started winning when they landed a QB in the draft.

I assume you watched the North practice. Yes, Glennon and Nassib don't impress me at all. Both are projects. Dysart is a different story. He spins the ball well. Can't say I have watch any Miami of Ohio games, but listening to Charles Davis and Mike Mayock, his movement skills are a big part of his game.

But, what you are missing is the South practice. All three QBs are looking very good. Landry Jones is a guy who I have liked all year and is playing lights out the first two days. Tyler Wilson is another guy that is very talented and has impressed. I would be thrilled to end up with either one of these guys. They both will be drafted in the first round. As for EJ Manuel, he is very talented but will need more seasoning than the other two before he is ready.

Comparing Kolb to these guys is a joke. All three have a stronger arm than Kolb. Wilson and Manuel move much better than Kolb, while Jones can move well enough and the scouts are surprised at how well he is moving in the pocket. I would take Wilson and Jones over Kolb in reading defenses and knowing where the ball should go, as Kolb stares down his wrs till it is time to roll out to his right and throw it as he gets hit. I watched Jones and Wilson, step up in the pocket or hit their outlet receivers. Hit you DVR to watch the South practice and you will change your opinion.

Finally, Kolb's history of being injured twice in 2010 in philly in 4 games, then turning over the job to Vick, injured in 2011 and turning the job over to Skelton, Losing the job in 2012, coming in for 5 games and being injured, clearly shows a pattern of inconsistant play and more importantly, injuries.

and you think he deserves more money...

Bill L....interesting post. made me think of Razor Shines, former major league baseball player and coach. do you suppose the Fisher Shine person you mention is related somehow to Razor? maybe we should think about hiring Razor as a coach. he could probably help our quarterbacks improve their velocity and control and, without a doubt, he could teach them how to slide. i know for a fact that he was the one who taught tom brady to slide and kick defenders in the groin at the same time. i think Razor could probably learn to bat footballs to our kick returners too. darren, maybe you would be willing to let mister keim know that Razor is out there and he is a free agent, looking for work. if mister keim is interested please have him contact Razor's new agent. that would be me.

Um...any chance we could hire, kidnapp, whatever the entire scouting and personnel staff of the Seahawks? Because THAT is one staff who has done one HELLUVA job over the past few years. And sorry to say, but between them and the Super-Bowl bound 49ers, it looks like we are locked out of this division for many years to come. Would love to be wrong. But I'm not!

Hopefully, out of all the promotions and hires........SOMEBODY is noticing FISHER Shine at Senior Bowl Practice........I no longer think it would be over drafting for the Cards to take him in the 1st.......this is a top ten guy and in case the CARDS missed it, A TRUE L TACKLE!!!!!

Oh, as to a QB in the 2nd..........they had better do a heck of a lot better than they(ALL OF THEM) showed today........You could put Skelton and Lindley out there and you wouldn't know the difference.......EXCEPT Lindley has more arm talent by far. QB in the 2nd........Is this some kind of Ruse to beat some money out of Kolb?........Damn, if Kolb saw that practice HE will be asking for MORE money.......assuming the entire front office and stafff are OUT OF THEIR MINDS!!!

A Pro-Bowl level G at 2 would be NICE, Though!!!
