It's way too early to tell, combine will help clear the questions about some draft picks and free agency will determine some important positions etc. One thing no one is talking about is the chance that Geno Smith could be on the board at #7. The two teams Cards fans have to worry about are the Chiefs and the Eagles.
Well, the Chiefs are telling last years starter at Left Tackle that they want to upgrade. Rumors Andy Reid will go after Alex Smith or trade for N. Folk. I can see him take Jockel at #1 spot.
The Eagles just gave Vick starter money to stay one more year. You don't draft a QB at #4 in the draft to sit the entire year behind Vick. They need a left tackle too and Fisher is almost as good as Jockel. (I don't see a team spending alot of draft picks to go up to grab Geno, he is not A. Luck) I don't see BA passing up Geno if he is on the board.....stay tuned.....

Not related to this but just saw the story about Ryan Williams looking forward to his "Third Chance" and it occurs to me that we have entirely too many guys falling into this category! I mean, isn't Kevin Kolb also looking forward to HIS third chance??? And by the way, that would be his third chance JUST with the Cardinals. Don't forget, his last year with Philly, he went down injured in the season opener and that opened the door for Michael Vick. So, really, this coming season is Kolb's 4th ( YES, FOURTH ) chance in as many seasons to TRY to play any more than half a season before spending the rest of the season watching from the sidelines. Note to Cardinals - starting QB's can't win games when they're wearing baseball caps. And, frankly, Kolb may as well start playing for the Diamondbacks because he wears a baseball cap more than he wears a football helmet at this point.

And then there's Beanie Wells....same thing.

And Ryan Williams...same thing.

Ya know, you can choose to try to ignore reality but...more often than not, reality wins. We went into last season counting on these guys and it was pretty much a disaster. Are we REALLY gonna be that foolish again????

I'm SOOOOO tired of the question marks and the un-certainty and the if's and the maybe's that we are hanging out hats on every year at these key positions. Can't win that way, but I think we've proven that rather conclusively over the years. At what point do you stop doing what isn't working and start plotting a new course?

Good points, but I keep going back to Big Ben and Luck and how they can spin it down the field. Serious adjustments needed to fit to Kolb's strengths. We shall see. Palmer looks to be a better stop gap fit if he were to be available.

Before I keep saying which QB should be drafted, here are my thoughts on the top 7 QBs in the 2013 Draft and my ranks:
-1.) Geno Smith: He is accurate in his throws, dynamic as a pocket passer, and can make smart runs to avoid injuries and sacks. He is by far the best QB in this draft class than anyone else. His speed makes him a huge threat on the field.
-2.) E.J Manuel: This guys might not be the fastest of players but he has the ability to out maneuver opponents and is capable of developing into a decent scrambler. His presence of reading the field and making accurate decisions gives him a slight advantage among all NFL players in the 2013 QB Draft Class. He not only can run, he has a strong, accurate arm am well making him a double threat like Geno Smith.
-3.) Zac Dysert: He can definitely make some high caliber passes. He can stretch the ball down the field and can convert a 50 yard pass but he has the inconsistency to under throwing the ball giving Defensive Backs more opportunities to pick him off. He can be accurate but also inconsistent. He is all about the short passes but can be a huge pocket passer if his accuracy improves and his decision making abilities change.
-4.) Mike Glennon: He has decent arm strength and many times make nice accurate throws. The downside to him is that he is not dynamic. He can make a lot of throws but he lacks the ability to give the ball to receivers to catch the ball easily. He has a good ability to throw a ball into tight coverage but he also has the tendency to overestimate his arm and causes an interception.
5.) Landry Jones: He is capable of being better than many Quarterbacks in the NFL. I have huge expectations for this prospect but he does not make good decisions when under pressure. He can throw ball into tight coverages, has decent arm strength, decent speed, but does not have the ability to do well in no huddle situations.
6.) Matt Barkley: He relies too much on screen plays. He has slow mechanics, has slow release on the ball and will have trouble when put in tough situations. He is an extremely accurate QB with nice arm strength but he lacks the zip and speed to his passes. He might end up like Matt Leinart or Mark Sanchez which is why this QB will be a huge risk. He might be accurate but looking at the way he throws the ball, many Defensive Backs in the NFL could easily ruin his career as a QB. With slow release on the pass, he might be a bust or he might end up like Carson Palmer where he will have some successes but lacks leadership to stay consistent.
7.) Ryan Nassib: This prospect, I fear, is not ready for the Professional level. He has the ability to cough up the ball when sacked. He has trouble maintaining possession of the ball when under pressure and will make bad decisions on the long run. He is fast as a scrambler and is decent on accuracy but his turnover issues will be a huge factor in where he will be drafted in the 2013 draft.

*UPDATE: Geno Smith and E.J Manuel seem to be most intriguing in the 2013 NFL draft so draft either or but if Geno Smith is available, take him. Zac Dysert was the QB I thought would be in this organizations future but he needs major improvements to get there.

Cactus Jack-
If you listened to Mr. Moore's press conference, he stated that he doesn't have a one fit only offense but adapts to the player's strength...so I could see Kolb being the starter with a 2 or 3rd round draft pick learning and another free agent qb on the roster as the backup....
One thing I think Whiz didn't do well was adjusting his offense to the Off line and QB to his playbook. Not too many QB are like Warner who had a great pre snap vision of the defense and knew where to exploit and go with the ball...

Andy Kw,

I'm with you man, it's hard not to be excited every day with the chages an almost entirely new coaching staff brings.

Brian, thrilled you're excited as well. I also like reading your posts, well thought out (or at least they read that way.) Sometimes mine are thought out and sometimes I'm shooting from the hip.

I don't know anything about Zac Dysert, but I do think Desert Dysert is a way cool monikor. I like Tyler Bray, but think he will need development before he can be a starter. John the Draft Guy has some good QB insights,

John, what are your assessments of Zac Dysert?

To all, looking forward to blogging with you all the way into the playoffs next season. I want home field advantage in SB 49 and I also want to win SB 48, is it possible anymore for a team to win back to back. If so, that's what I want.
