[...] – Keim mentioned on the Big Red Rage Thursday night that one player he thought is poised to break out is second-year offensive lineman Bobby Massie. Keim didn’t say Massie would definitely break out at tackle — as opposed to guard, for instance — but you usually don’t have a breakout candidate moving. So does Massie stay at right tackle? If the Cards draft an offensive tackle, maybe Levi Brown moves? (Although that too has drawn a pump-the-brakes response.) [...]

I like this line scenario.

Lt Potter - LG Warmack or Cooper(try to trade down a few for Cooper) - C Sendelein - RG Brown - RT Massie

You have some vets and Kelomente backing up this young o-line and allow them to develop as a unit. Next year if Potter or Massie cant hold up, you draft another tackle then you keep them as your swing tackle backup.

Potter did an admirable job last year and with a new offense that is not predicated on WR routes that take 5 sec to develop this line should be serviceable in pass protection. Moving Brown to RG and drafting a stud LG and the running game should actually be decent.

Just an idea on what I plan on doing in Madden this year ;)

but as keyboard coaches and managers we don't get fired and can always come up with an excuse why something did'nt work.i do agree that with healthy bodies,some inspiring coaching,and a renewed emphasis on physicality,we're not so far off offensefly,we need game changers anywhere and everywhere,if there is'nt one at qb then don't waste our best pick there trying to make something that just won't happen,get a game manager for the time being and build the foundation for when we do see "the one".pp had more to do with games won his first year because he is a difference maker,we need more like him at other positions,question is how many can we get and will we step up to the plate.

any words on AJ McCarron?
Is he going to 2013's draft?

After wacthing some Alabama's game I liked what I saw on that Kid, considering he goes to his senior year, wouldn't he be a nice fit for Cardinals in 2014 draft class?

RE: Keim/Small schools

Steve has been in charge of the scouts for a few years now. Whether you would call that "instrumental" I don't know, but he has been a major part of the process.

@Bill L,

"readers can decide what they think about vested sources as opposed to independent"

I think I'll go with the vested sources, for obvious reasons. Arians wasn't anywhere near AZ when Levi was picked, and has zero reason to keep someone around he doesn't think can play effectively for him. The problem with today's independent sources is they think they can judge a player by guessing at film they see. There is no way for them to know what the blocking scheme on a given play called for, who might have missed an assignment, etc. Plus, we shuffled through many QB's, in a vertical offense, which makes an already difficult position borderline impossible, something I doubt our online experts take into account with their ratings.

Is it fun to try and figure out how teams should be built, and who should play where? Obviously, or we wouldn't spend so much time commenting on it, and yes, there are times when it seems as though the coaching staff misses the obvious, but let's not fall into the illusion of thinking that any keyboard warriors could spend a minute in an actual coaches meeting without being in way over our collective heads. The fact that they attempt to rank every player is a giveaway to their overall lack of understanding. Bruce Snyder once told me, at the end of the season he and his coaching staff broke down tape on every player, at every position, for every play, for every game to figure out where they could improve the following season. Think about the amount of time that would take and tell me how there's enough hours in the day to do that across all 32 teams? Another example, a friend of mine was signed by the Cowboys as a free agent a number of years back. They knew everything about him, dating back to when he started playing in middle school, this for a guy who didn't make the first cut. Mind boggling. Classic examples of professional vs amateur evaluation.
