Red-hot Abraham gets an extra sack

Posted by Darren Urban on November 13, 2013 – 10:35 am

After further review of the Houston video, Elias has changed the sack originally given to Frostee Rucker to John Abraham — on the 23-yard loss, it was determined Texans QB Case Keenum kept his feet after the initial contact from Rucker, only to collapse as Abraham bore in. Abraham already had two sacks in the game, and his now-three-sack game has implications.

– Since Darnell Dockett had a three-sack game in New Orleans earlier this season, it marks the first time for the franchise that two different Cardinals had three sacks in a game in a season since 1987, when Curtis Greer and Freddie Joe Nunn did it.

– It is Abraham’s ninth game in his career when he had three sacks. Only Hall of Famers Lawrence Taylor (who did it 12 times), Reggie White (12) and Derrick Thomas (10) accomplished a feat more often.

– That gives Abraham six sacks on the season and six in his last three games. That is a franchise record for a three-game span. Greer held the previous mark of 5.5.

– Abraham now has 128 sacks in his career, tying Hall of Famer Rickey Jackson for 11th on the all-time list.

With both Eugene Monroe and Luke Joeckel out, Abraham may get six more this week.

This could be a very good game for the cards defense.

What’s not to love about Big John? This guy is incredible in my book, as usually a vet with his experience (and age) seem to be the focus of all the enthusiasts and newbie’s negative protests but he keeps making those big plays each game making him one of Keim’s better accomplishments. Hopefully, he can stay healthy and be rewarded with a contract extention. Glad he got credit for that sack, I figured it would probably go down as an assist.

-The next 5 games should definitely give this team a huge boost of confidence: We play some tough teams like Colts and Rams at home. We are playing some struggling teams away (Jaguars and Titans) and Bruce Arians understands both of these teams. The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the most improved offenses in the NFL but their defense if ranked one of the worst.
-ARIZONA CARDINALS FANS: Keep cheering them on because this team can do it. This team is improving and is confident. I love how this team is not over confident. The Titans lost to the Jags because they lost their QB and they underestimated what the Jaguars can do. This team plays every team with the same preparation and they always stay positive. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Cardschatter @55getlive His sack/fumble caused on 1st play reminiscent of punch by Cassius Clay to knock out Sonny Liston. wow 55.

Watched that replay 4-5 times. wow is alI I can come up with.. especially after Arians deferred on the coin toss and asked D for a caused fumble.Wow.

It should have been a half sack for Abraham and Rucker because Rucker got the initial pressure and stumble and Abraham finished him off.
