    Greg –

    RE: Panthers

It was the 2008 season and for clarity sake, NFL playoff games usually referenced to the season for which they are attached.

I’m aware it was the 2008 season. Original headline read “on this day in history …. in 2008.”. No biggie … thanks for the clarification Darren. I really enjoy your blog. Read it all the time.

Man, what a night! That game was something special. At the time, it was the biggest game the Cardinals had ever won during my time as a fan and it was REALLY foreign territory. Couldn’t believe we were on our way to an NFC title game. I remember watching the Eagles – Giants game the next day following my usual instincts to want the Eagles to lose but needing to constantly over-ride those instincts because an Eagles win was bringing the title game to Arizona.

Seemed like the Cards might be in trouble when the Panthers took the ball right down the field and scored on the opening possession. Little did ANYONE know they wouldn’t score again until it was WAAAY too late for them! THAT was the game that showed that the Cardinals truly belonged in the playoffs and might just be the best the NFC had to offer. By the time the SB ended, that was ABSOLUTEY confirmed.
