Well, I know where I’m gonna be watching one game in particular – that would be Oct 26th, against the Eagles, when I will be sitting among a beautiful sea of red within the comfy confines of UoP Stadium!!! Been a fan for 40 years and this will be the first time I will have seen my team play at home. Cannot wait to see this stadium I have heard so much about and REALLY can’t wait to hit the team store after the game!!! After we dispose of the Eagles, or course.
I have seen the Cards several times out here in Philly. Some good and some bad. Saw them score a couple of tremendous up-sets against the Eagles during the Buddy Ryan era. Man, how sweet that was! One of those was during Johnny Johnson’s first season. They won with 3 4th quarter Al Del Greco FG’s.
Also saw the season opener in 1999, known out here as the “Brian Finneran bobble game” due to a pass he bobbled late in the 4th that was intercepted by Kwame Lassiter. The Cards drove down and scored as time expired to win that one, too. Classic Jake Plummer that day…he was horrible the entire first half, then started to warm up in the 3rd, then he was money in the bank with the game on the line! Was also Andy Reid’s first game as their head coach. And one I don’t think he will ever forget!
There is NOTHING like beating the Eagles! Not a division rival, true, but it is just SOOOOO DAMN SWEET to listen to the misery of Eagles fans – some of the biggest whiners and complainers you will find ANYWHERE – after they lose to a team they just knew / assumed the Eagles would beat. Happens to them all the time!
