The Cardinals made a roster move Tuesday, cutting outside linebacker Victor Butler, who had been recently signed. Big picture, it makes sense. Alex Okafor, who had been dealing with a thigh injury that had kept him off the field since the final preseason game, finally returned to practice last week. Okafor will be in the outside linebacker mix. That meant a surplus, so the Cards decided to part ways with Butler.
We’ll see what the Cardinals do with the open roster spot, although it figures to be a veteran of some sort. Regardless, the bye week has been good for the Cards health-wise — save for the uncertainty around Carson Palmer — and assuming Paul Fanaika is ready to go tomorrow, it’ll be the first time that Bruce Arians won’t have a lot of injuries to dance around as he figures out his 46 actives this Sunday.
