Nkemdiche out against Bucs; Mathis active

Posted by Darren Urban on September 18, 2016 – 11:31 am

It probably shouldn’t be a surprise, given the way Bruce Arians called him a “non-factor” in his debut and then having him pop up Friday on the injury report as questionable with an ankle problem, but first-round defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche is inactive today for the Cardinals. Nkemdiche hurt his ankle before training camp even started and it’s possible he jacked it up again in practice.

While Nkemdiche flashed in a couple of practices, publicly Arians has continued to push the rookie. It’s beginning to feel a little like how Arians treated 2015 draft pick D.J. Humphries. Humphries, as we all know, was inactive all last season. The hope would be that Nkemdiche doesn’t fall into the same trap, although the depth the Cardinals have on the defensive line is there to be used if needed.

One slight surprise on the active players: Newcomer cornerback Tharold Simon is indeed active after being claimed Wednesday. How much of a role he has is TBD.

The full inactive list against the Buccaneers:

— WR J.J. Nelson (shoulder)

— S Marqui Christian

— G Cole Toner

— DT Robert Nkemdiche (ankle)

— DT Frostee Rucker (knee)

— LB Kareem Martin (knee)

— DT Olsen Pierre

And, apropos of nothing, the downside of losing the Bucket Challenge:

Nokemdiche? BA needs to put this game on the backs of Fitz, Floyd and DJohnson today. Forget the riskit//biscuit stuff. And PPXXI needs to step it up so we only have to worry about half the secondary..! ((Not like last week; tackle somebody..!!))

We have the horses…they just need to be on the same coordinates. NO MORE LAYING GIANT EGGS…! …Go Cards; you’re getting paid for this…act like it.

17-0 and I like the feel of the game so far. The Cardinals seem to be playing efficient and to be in control. But I gotta ask – they just had a 1st and goal on the ONE and they call 3 consecutive PASS plays??? I’m glad they scored, but….why not RUN it in from there? Had they needed to settle for a FG there, that would have been cause for some questions.

And don’t look now, but the Rams are giving the Seahawks fits again! I love the Rams!

Keep attacking in the 2nd half but don’t get crazy with un-necessary big play attempts. Let’s see a a big dose of the run game and give CJ some work. Keep the Buccs offense on the sidelines.

Man, that felt SOOOOO good! It felt so good to see a dominant win on a day where everything was working. Great day for Palmer – efficient, confident, 300 yds and 3 TD’s. Just another day at the office.

Thank you, Cardinals. And HELLO, MR Cooper!!!

And thank you, RAMS!!!! Did I mention that I love the Rams?

Good enough to win today but not nrar good enough to win at playoff level. D line can we get something out of you. Remember all that kimdiche looks like a stud in one on one drills. He has tools to be dominant player. I guess hyperbole ruled that day. Cards if you want to be champions you better play at a higher level at the line of scrimmage. And you better learn to run the ball

GOOD REBOUND TEAM WIN!! CARDINALS!! I SAW THE CONFIDENCE IN PALMER I SAW LAST SEASON,HIS THROWS WERE FAST AND ACCURATE,NO PICS/FUMBLES for second game in a row,o-line good protection,LARRY FITZGERALD AND/DAVID JOHNSON,ARE BEASTS!! .CANTANZARO REBOUNDED (AS LONG AS HES NOT PUT INTO A POSITION OF HAVING TO TRY A FG OVER 46 YRDS.)MY OFFENCE GRADE B+(mostly because of lack of 3rd down conversions in the 1st qtr)OVER ALL I THINK THE CARDS DEFENCE PLAYED BETTER!!ESPECIALLY THE CBs .CHANDLER JONES got his second sack,of the season,BUT …I HAVE BEEN slightly DISAPOINTED WITH THE TOTAL # OF TEAM SACKS through 2 games GRADE B+ BUT .. GOOD TEAMS DONT LOOSE TWICE IN A ROW ..AND CARDINALS DIDNT, NOW ON TO BUFFALO. IF CARDS CONTINUE TO PLAY MISTAKE FREE FOOTBALL WE SHOULD WIN!!BUT THE BILLS ARENT GOING TO GIVE IT TO US ,THE CARDINALS HAVE TO TAKE IT..GO CARDINALS!!!

Not happy about Robert N. We need this guy now. Hope his ankle was the reason for last week and that we can get him right quickly.

Scott – Defense was great and offense got it going after our defense set the tone, but once again a slow start by our offense has me worried. I am 100% with you on the 3 pass plays from the 1 yard line this week and the pass to Fitz last week from the 1 on first down, but hey Fitz made a great catch on that ball last week and on a few balls this week. Fitz is playing incredible.

Rams are just a strange team. They make the 49ers look like the Seahawks and they make the Seahawks look like the 49ers.

    Go Cards!

I would rather have DE/DT Robert Nkimdiche sit this game anyway & use the extra time to get his Ankle fully healed backup so it doesn’t nag him. As for Arians saying he was a non factor I don’t know if he said that because he didn’t get a sack or what but he wasn’t a non factor, he was in for 15 plays & he was destroying NE OG Shaq Mason walking him with ease into the backfield. In 15 snaps Nkimdiche had 4 QB Pressures which is insanely good & shows the pass rushing potential this kid. I think Arians instead of praising him for the pressure on the QB he got is trying to get in his head n piss him off slash motivate him into trying his hardest to destroy the man in front of him n get a few sacks on the QB…

At 6″4/298pds with 12% body fat Robert Nkimdiche posses elite strength/power, elite speed for weighing 300pds running a 4.79 40 which is not just insane but heard of & he posses elite athleticism n inhuman explosiveness as the man is 300pds and posts a 36in vertical jump from a stand still n 118inch broad jump from a stand still (10ft) both tests show the kind of Elite world class caliber Explosivness & he has extremely heavy extremely fast hand speed/power as well with one of the fastest 1st steps off the Line/Ball I have ever seen. You pair Nkimdiche’s Elite power with his elite explosiveness/speed off the line of scrimmage and you have an Elite Athlete that is a very rare, very special top notch excellent interior pass rusher with the tools and god given talent to be an Elite inside pass rusher that is one of the NFLs best if not thee best. Nkimdiche has 5X Times the natural athletic ability/natural talent than Darnell Dockett had in his prime Nkimdiche just needs to develop the technical aspect to his game n develop , he already has an arsenal of pass rush moves. I would bet cash Money Nkimdiche is an absolute monster this season esp down the stretch over the last 8 games ending up posting 7-10 sacks as a rookie along with 45-55 QB Pressures. With all the talent AZ has up front that have an Elite top 5 Defensive Line that is the best 3-4 D-Line in the NFL To me. I realize AZ has a lot of young DE’s but I’d like to see Keim draft one more high to pair with Nkimdiche for the long term.

Picking 29th in Last Years Draft AZ is extremely lucky to have been able to draft a top 5-10 Talent especially since he is a pass rusher because if not for his Hotel Incident he would of been a top 5 pick. I am beyond glad we traded our 2nd round draft pick for one of the best Elite OLB/DE’s in the NFL in 6″5 Chandler Jones but I wish we would of had an extra 2nd saved up so we could of also drafted excellent tall/long pass rusher Noah Spence.

Now, that’s more like it! Seems maybe we owe B.Bilichick and the Patriots a steak dinner & champagne for the bitch slap he gave us to wake everyone up and get us into the same book (still not always on the same page).
I LOVE a savage defense and am now excited about the endless possibilities for this group now, with two new Corners to put some teeth into our secondary while Williams is continuing to learn the job and develop! Cooper was incredible and I think Simon has the potential as well, so that we will have the capability to blow the doors off anybody once we get it all going. Wow, this could be a No.1 defense, scary awesome with all the talent we have…and, some depth that may carry us farther into the playoffs! Still, not perfect but, starting to look like the old “No Fly Zone” once again…and, Tony Jefferson is doing a GREAT job, kinda an unsung hero, quietly stepping up into RJ’s role AND making the not-so-glitzy plays.
Yesterday, looked like a reenergized Cardinals and the team we knew they COULD be. Guess the fans weren’t overreacting and a little hyperbole was just what was needed! After getting a taste, this is a different birdgang and WE DON’T TAKE LOSSES.
Being from the KC area originally, I have great respect for St. Louis fans but NONE for Greg Williams and the Rams Organization. Williams is the dirtiest coach in the league and I can’t believe he hasn’t been permanently banned; his defenses are head hunters and leg breakers and the Cards have been on the receiving end of their dirty deeds more than once. Fitting that the team is now at home in tinseltown where illusion is everything and money buys respect. Seahawks lost to an inferior team and one loss does not a season make–as we just found out!
Carson & Company looked to have come out of their coma, our defense is beginning to look freakishly talented and savage and if we can just keep our focus on winning one game at a time we might have the happy ending everyone was predicting. GREAT TEAM WIN GUYS! GO CARDS!
