Spring Tailgate TV special, and “Groundwork”

Posted by Darren Urban on May 5, 2017 – 11:00 am

Couple of worthwhile projects put together by our excellent video department are finding their way to the public, so if you get a chance, take a look. The first is “Groundwork” a series of short web videos that will be rolled out from now (the initial piece features D.J. Humphries) through training camp. The synopsis, from our VP of broadcasting, Tim DeLaney:

“Groundwork is about the business of getting better from an individual’s perspective.  Each episode will focus on a player and what he is doing to prepare for the season – mentally and physically – in the weight room, the film room and on the field.  We’ll track the progress of the highlighted players through training camp.”

The other will be the Spring Tailgate TV special, shot the night of the third day of the draft and airing Saturday at approximately 8 p.m., following NBA playoff coverage on ABC 15. Hosted by Paul Calvisi and Ron Wolfley, the show features draft analysis from GM Steve Keim and team president Michael Bidwill, as well as talk about the revamped defense with linebackers Chandler Jones and Karlos Dansby.

My question is why did it take so long to have former QB Jim Hart added to the “Ring of Honor”???

Darren, Your production cameramen are doing an excellent job with closeups, cutaways, dramatic angles and good, crisp sound. Easy to believe we’re right there at the event you are filming. I’m excited for this year’ draft show. I believe this Roster is stronger from the bottom up. You are introducing the players and personalities in a fun way that gets us all involved in how each guy was chosen and how they got to be Cardinals. Thanks to your production staff people, you’ve got a good crew.

@jerrell, i would like it, but and thats a big BUT, keapernick would have to lower his salary to a third QB level, and then to learn the offense for a year (or maybe two).

as i wrote, i would like it, BUT ……

Maybe you dwash lovers and dreamers should read the drug testing policy the nfl uses. First click thumb down then read the policy. This loser didnt just “make a mistake”. This was a bad behavior repeated over several years. Many players have “made mistakes” in the nfl and not come anywhere close to the disciplinary actions brought against dwash. So how did he wind up three years removed from what is a very forgiving league? Read the policy.
p.s. Youll feel better if you click thumb down first then read

DJ Humphries, there’s a story. A great player/athlete. Great player development from the organization.

A minister in today’s St. Louis Mo. paper took Karlos Dansby’s name in vain.

“God promised me in a dream, ‘I’m going to give you a global base,’” Taylor told his followers. “‘I want you to build an arena.’ And this has the space for the arena.”

Taylor, who has a weekly show on the national cable channel The Word, told his flock that night he had a $400 million bank loan lined up, along with a $10 million donation from Arizona Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby. (Dansby said through his team he was “aware of” Taylor but never gave $10 million.)

Don’t let the devil stand in my way, Taylor demanded.

    Darren:
With the Cardinals not drafting a QB in the draft, not disappointed in their picks though, and now inquiring about Gehbert, what does that say about Stanton..
Obviously Keim and Arians took care to draft some good lineman prospects and signing an experienced back up C-G so that Palmer can stay upright, but we’re one play away from disaster. What if Kap came to AZ with a different attitude and salary. He would give us something we don’t have in our veteran QB’s. Mobility !!!!
With Keim and Arians ability to change the player’s rep, Kapernick could be another Honey Badger.
    Just thinking out loud .

Not sure why everyone thinks Kap is a good QB. He doesn’t fit the Cards system at all. His accuracy and decision making is questionable. Is he athletic? Yes very. Teams take players that fit their system if they don’t it can result in disaster.

Look how Jeff Garcia played when he went to Cleveland, wrong system for his ability. When he went to the Eagles he fit the system and played well. It’s not always that simple when selecting some one to bring into the fold.

QB’s in the draft next year are better anyways. Cards are playing for this season as we all saw in how the draft unfolded. Let’s worry about drafting/finding a successor next year.

I’ll probably have one after a week of OTAs. Let me get a sense of how this team is when everyone is together.

Darren- Are the rumors about Gabbert true??? If he is hired will he become the 3rd string QB?

    RE: Gabbert

If Gabbert is signed, we’ll see where he lands, whether they keep all these QBs. No way to know until/if it happens.

On a totally different note…do you know if the Cards have made a bid to host the draft in the near future? I seem to remember hearing Phoenix mentioned as a possibility, perhaps because it would be a popular resort type of venue and we did such a good job putting on the SBs.

    Darren –

This Rolle kid they just signed….no relation to Antrel, is there??

I guess they found their veteran CB / one-year deal guy. Not exactly a household name and has had some injury problems. My immediate impression is that if Bethel or Williams can’t beat him out HANDILY, then we are truly in trouble at CB. On the current roster, we have Bethel, Williams, this kid, and a cast of characters I’ve never heard of ( I doubt anyone else has, either ).

    RE: Rolle

I do not believe they are related, no.

And as for finding their veteran guy, I don’t think this signing precludes another at some point.

Seriously? This is the Corner that Keim comes up with??? Why not give Antonio Cromartie a call? He played better than Peterson when he was here before and he might find the idea of playing with Dansby and co. appealing. I assume this Rolle kid is a camp body but why the headline as if something had been achieved?
When are we going to find out anything about DWashington, Darren?
I hope the next story isn’t one about signing Blaine Gabbart.

I kinda hope they might add another at some point! I would have to think it is a long shot but I can’t help wondering about McCourty…..hey, he’s gotta end up somewhere, doesn’t he? The longer he stays out there, un-employed, the more possible it seems.

You think there is any chance they kick the tires on Tracey Porter?
