Some quick Friday morning tidbits:
— The Cardinals hosted a couple more veteran free-agents this week: G Kendall Simmons and S Mike Brown. Brown’s a local kid (I covered him when he was a star running back at Scottsdale Saguaro High School) who has had injury woes much of his career, spending last season with the Chiefs after a lengthy career with the Bears (Brown did play all 16 games last season). Simmons is a guy who played offensive line for coach Ken Whisenhunt in Pittsburgh. Talking to general manager Rod Graves the other day, he said free agency probably was going to be on hold until after the draft, unless the Cards decided to sign some minimum salary guys. I’m not sure Brown and/or Simmons fall into that category, so this may be exploratory based on what happens at the draft.
— It’s interesting to me that guard Deuce Lutui still hasn’t signed his tender offer as a restricted free agent. I don’t think it’s a big deal, but I suppose it could become one (and maybe that’s why Simmons is on the radar).
— Second-year linebacker Reggie Walker is now a plus-one. In a move completely expected, new linebacker Joey Porter is getting jersey No. 55, so Walker just added a tally and has moved to No. 56. There still could be a couple of number changes coming, but we’ll see.
— Don’t forget about Adrian Wilson’s Shave-off for Jack fundraiser Saturday from 2-6 p.m.
