Some quick after practice stuff, aside from the news rookie LB Cody Brown is out for the season with a wrist injury:
— Beanie Wells “looked explosive and fast,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said in Wells’ most extensive work since camp started and clearly his best work. Whisenhunt noted Wells made it to the perimeter a couple of times with some speed.
— WR Steve Breaston (knee) is “coming along well,” but remains out. He was catching some passes from assistant athletic trainer Chad Cook, however, as part of his rehab. QB Brian St. Pierre sat out when his bad back flared up. LB Ali Highsmith (ankle) and T Elliot Vallejo (kneecap) remain out. DT Keilen Dykes (quad) did his first work since getting hurt, taking part in individual drills and some running.
— The Cards have a tent up between the practice fields to help with the heat, along with some giant fans — fans which Whisenhunt said were turned the wrong way to start the day, so the coach got that rectified.
