On Anquan and other random stuff

Reading the piece by Kent Somers about Anquan Boldin rang true to me, and not just because I too have seen every catch Q has made or written countless stories about Boldin. It’s clear, like Kent pointed out, that Boldin can’t be Q right now with his bad ankle and these are things everyone has been considering. Boldin was practically defiant Monday talking about playing as long as he is able to get on the field, which is no surprise given his toughness. There are other factors at play here too — There’s no question Q knows what people say about him getting hurt often, and with a future contract at stake, he wants to continue to prove he’s the warrior he always has been — but at some point, it does make sense to give him time to heal. Now, if I’m the Cardinals and decide on this route, I’m all in, forcing Boldin to sit practice too. Give it a week off completely. But we’ll see how it plays out. Watch Q work this week, play Sunday and go for 5-85-2.

— The Cardinals have filled their opening on the practice squad after losing fullback Fui Vakapuna yesterday to Cincinnati. They signed fullback Jed Collins, a one-time undrafted guy who was on a couple teams last year and spent training camp with the Chiefs.

— The Big Red Rage this week will have DT Bryan Robinson joining host Bertramd Berry from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Majerle’s Sports Grill at Chandler Fashion Center. As always, if you can’t be there live, listen on Sports 620 KTAR.

— Looking for an autograph, you can meet DE Calais Campbell next Tuesday — Nov. 10 — at the Verizon Wireless store at Peoria Crossing (9184 W Northern Ave., Ste 101, Glendale) from 6- 7 p.m.

— Finally, Kurt Warner and wife Brenda are hosting a “Night With Champions” at the Wrigley Mansion Nov. 16. The event, which will also include a Q n A with Ken Whisenhunt and Larry Fitzgerald (and, from what I understand, food from Oregano’s Pizza Bistro — a personal favorite — according to the Oregano’s Facebook page). The night raises money for Kurt’s First Things First foundation.

I understand the need to rest Q and get him healthy. However I watched him running in pregame, warmups, and in the game on Sunday and he looked like he was running better than he has in a while. Yes I know he took a hit on his ankle and reinjured it, but he could take a hit on it even if he had been rested. I would rather have Q out there 80% than rock hands Urban who always seems to drop the ball. Yes we could have activated Doucet, but at least when they had to put Morey in there he caught the ball. I for one am tired of seem 85 drop the pass, or fumble it.

C’mon, Darren. Oregano’s? Don’t support the chains. You’ve been around the Valley long enough to enjoy Nello’s or (the best pizza in the world) Pizzaria Bianco downtown.

    Kerouac —

First of all, Oregano’s isn’t a chain. It may have expanded faster than the other places, but it’s not a chain. I have personal reasons to be a Oregano’s fan first too. Never had a chance to go to Bianco yet.

On the fullback issue. How about using TE Byrd at fullback. Gives another pair of good hands (receiving, blocking).
