Inactives, the roof, and red UPDATED

Posted by Darren Urban on November 15, 2009 – 12:51 pm

For anyone wondering, the roof will remain closed today, which really isn’t a huge surprise. The crowd noise is that much more intense when it is closed. The Cardinals have also busted out their all red uniforms for today.

As for the inactives, injuries have taken a bite out of the lineup. LBs Chike Okeafor and Geraldn Hayes (both with back problems) will sit, as will the concussed special teamer Sean Morey. So to will TE Ben Patrick (knee), meaning Stephen Spach will be back in the lineup. Special teams, with Morey out and Ali Highsmith starting on defense for Hayes, will be something to watch.

The other inactives:

  • QB Brian St. Pierre
  • OL Brandon Keith
  • OL Herman Johnson
  • TE Dominique Byrd

I see that Rookie Rashad Johnson is finally off the inactive list. Any chance we see him hit the field on defense? Also how has his progress been this season? Thanks and Go Cardinals!

I would guess Rashad is up for special teams mostly. I would doubt he’d play much defense.

The all red uni’s are terrible.

    WOOT! All red.

Has Doucet taken over as the #4 WR ,because I don’t see Urban playing much lately?

    I wouldn’t necessarily say that.

What is with this team? Losing to the Seahawks at home? And those all red uniforms are a joke. What is this? Pay homage to Santa Claus?

Whisenhunt is nothing but Denny Green reincarnate. Same old Cardinals. I’m so sick of this team’s inconsistent mistake filled play.

Darren – considering how Urban’s gotten all of ONE target in the last six quarters, and Doucet has close to ten, it sure seems like it. Damned shame.

Hey Keith how long do we have to put up with this inconsitant team….I also think Whiz is a bad coach…he is so predictable

    Redbird Man-
Incorrect. Did Denny Green lead us to a winning record? The playoffs? A Super Bowl?

A real fan sticks with his team through thick and thin.

Again, why is Herman Johnson on the inactive list???

Herman isn’t ready to play OL and isn’t going to play special teams. Why would he be active?

Really people?? Why do you insist on talking down the Cardinals and their staff? If it’s that bad why stick around? I mean the Cardinals are only the NFC Champions right? There is no need for fans like you people…If its that find a new team.. GO CARDS!

What is with these idiots who come up here posting that Whiz is Denny Green? That mkaes no sense at all, especially considering we won the game. At least wait til the end of a game to make a judgement before making yourself look stupid. The Cards played good in 2nd half and really could’ve had over 40 points if they score on 4th & goal and get a TD (instead of a field goal) in the 1st half.

Why did we bother to build a stadium with a retractable roof???Beutiful 70 degree day and we are setting inside. Seems like and incredible waste of money if we are never going to open it…all for crowd noise? CMON!!!

“The crowd noise is that much more intense” when the roof is closed. Oh really? Has anyone actually ever MEASURED the noise levels, opened or closed? Having been to all the home games since the stadium opened, including the tiny number of open-roof games, I don’t buy that theory. The noise stays in plenty well even with the relatively small opening the open roof provides. The stands are still “encased” and my recollection is that it seemed just as noisy – at least from my seats in row 32 downstairs – as with the roof closed. On a day like today, it SUCKED to be indoors. Right now even having a retractable roof is nothing more than a big waste of money. Either open the dang thing, or if noise is really the thing that’s keeping it closed, somebody with the team needs to verify that this theory is even valid. My guess is it’s not much of a difference at all, if any. LET THERE BE LIGHT!! Besides, Jesus wants to be able see Kurt winging the ball like he was today.

I have to agree. It is a terrible waste of dollars to build a stadium with a retractable roof is it is going to remain closed! The fans will make lots of noise when they have to. Great win for the Cardinals. They showed they could come back and win. As far as the red uniforms go they broke the Jinx. Seems they always loose when they wear them. Wear them again!

It is noticeably louder to me with the roof closed. Still, it would be interesting to see measurement data comparing open and closed.

The all red uni’s are OK but A-Dub with the low top shoes and low socks looked like he was part of a bobsled team or something T.O. would wear in warm-ups.
