UoP stadium wins decade honor
Posted by on December 24, 2009 – 9:04 amSports Illustrated has been releasing tons of sports-related lists and, in what I’d consider something of an mild upset, University of Phoenix Stadium tops the magazine’s top 10 choices for “best new stadium” since 2000. The Cardinals’ home beat out AT&T Park in San Francisco — home of baseball’s Giants. That monster of a new stadium out in Texas built for the Cowboys finished third on the list, new Yankees Stadium was fourth and the Pirates’ PNC Park in Pittsburgh was fifth.
SI mentions the fact UoP hosts not only the Cards but the Fiesta Bowl and already one Super Bowl. “The award-winning design features a roof covered by a translucent fabric and exterior walls made of metallic panels to help with cooling inside. The field can be moved outside on rollers, enabling optimal grass growth in the desert setting.”

Can’t do anything about the name… ya do business with University of Phoenix and that’s what the name’s gonna be. Great stadium and it’s cool to know it’s ahead of every other stadium, even the newest ones like in Dallas.

We play in a college stadium for years. Then we build our own and name it after a college. NICE!

With no disrespect to The University of Phoenix, the pride of a winning football team and a strong following with fans can most definatly be all in the name of the house that the thunder roars!
