DRC only has knee contusion UPDATE

Posted by Darren Urban on January 3, 2010 – 2:20 pm

Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is being carted off after getting hurt on the third play of the game. It looks like a left knee or lower leg. We’ll have an update ASAP. UPDATE: It is indeed a left knee injury and officially, his return is doubtful. Obviously, the Cards are praying his return this season isn’t doubtful.

UPDATE II: Great (relatively speaking) news. DRC has a left knee contusion and his return has been changed to questionable. He won’t be back today, I wouldn’t think. But suddenly, the playoffs aren’t a pipe dream.

With a knee contusion, is he likely to play next week in the playoffs?

A contusion is a bruise. There are degrees of contusions, though. That’s what kept Breaston out of the bulk of the preseason. It’s what Fitz suffered in SF. We’ll have to see how DRC is this week. You know Whiz is going to keep it close to the vest though.

Thanks Coach Whisenhunt for playing our best cornerback in a meaningless game! Let’s role the dice with the entire offense as well! You had better hope that DRC can heal in time for the post season or your coaching decisions will appear more questionable than Micheal Adams man coverage.

There are only 45 guys active on game day. If DRC wouldn’t have gotten hurt, would you have written the same thing?

Why do the Cards look so flat? I’m not getting the game on radio or TV, just on the internet. Did they have a big let-down since the Vikings won?

The Cards pulled many key defensive players after the first series and they definitely pulled back on the game plan. But that doesn’t make this showing any more palatable. I am surprised they are going like this. Leinart has thrown two bad interceptions and had a third taken back because of the safety.

Darren, just keep us informed. This game is becoming more meaningless as time goes on. Drc is now the biggest story of the game.

Carda are fine. This is a pre-season game and just like the real pre-season game GB has game planned and left their starters in for the 1st half.

Leinhart has looked very bad though.

The nice thing is this team plays better with a grudge on their shoulder.

I understand the importance of keeping players “fresh” for the postseason. Yet in a meaninfless game I find it inexplicable that Whisenhunt would continue to play our pro bowl caliber players. These are guys who have proven thier abilities throughout the season and should remain focused in the playoffs. Thanks to stupid player management and bad luck today we have injured our top cornerback and Boldin. I simply ask, “Why run the risk with elite players?”

Ya, this game was ugly but I’m not at all worried about next week. I just hope DRC is health or else they’re gonna exploit Adams again. Then we can start worrying.
