Whiz isn’t deciding on QB today

Posted by Darren Urban on October 3, 2010 – 5:18 pm

Real quick here as we drive to the airport, but coach Ken Whisenhunt said he didn’t want to make a decision on his starting quarterback until he watches the video. No reason to make a choice in the heat of the moment. I personally think Max Hall will get his shot, but as Whiz said, starting a rookie quarterback isn’t a simple decision. I will have much more in a few hours. Whether Whiz makes that decision tomorrow, it will be interesting. Maybe he’ll want to make the Saints think all week.

This team is so far beyond just a QB change. The O line and D line look worse than the Dave McGinnis days. In fact I have been a Cards season ticket holder since they came here in 88 and this game rivals the worst team performance ever.

I think Whiz needs to make a decision if he’s gonna fire the Defensive Coordinator or himself as the Offensive Coordinator. Were playing pathetic on both sides of the ball. And as a fan I want a change and I want it asap. We can’t be blown out by good teams and barely managing a win against poor teams. Put players on the field who want to win and not old washed up players like porter and robinson. In the real world if you don’t do a good job at work you are fired…why can’t whiz make that call and cut players and coaches who don’t produce. Man Up Whiz….

Let’s see, we have played 2 decent football teams and given up almost 90 points. Just like last years playoff games. Anyone think we will hold the Saints to less than 40? If Williams is going to be the key to the 3-4, maybe the way to make him lose weight is to play him more, not less.

The quarterback problem is only one problem the cardinals face. What are the odds that Bill Davis loses his job as coordinator? The schemes he has been running this year have led opposing teams to score a combined 118 points.

  7. By Carol Fogleman on Oct 3, 2010 | Reply

This result was inevitable; who in their right mind would cut the starting quarterback one week before the season after having stated all offseason that he was the guy? Without even allowing him the opportunity to lead the team he was drafted to lead?
Whiz and Graves did not treat Matt or the fans that flocked to the Cardinals because of Matt fairly. They never appreciated his talent, always wanted something different. Now, Cardinals will pay the terrible price for arrogance and stupidity.

    karma is a bitch!

Anderson isn’t the furture. They have nothing to loose with starting Hall and let him develope. Anderson has always been an average QB. and will make a great backup. Now, the real problem is the linemen on bothsides of the ball..they looked silly again this week. To much talent to look so bad!

Yeah Darren the Saints coaching staff and defense will all be losing sleep on if Errant Anderson or Rookie Max Hall will be the Captain of our mighty offense. Yes Coach Whiz take your time and do not be emotional. Take all the time like you took all off season to give us what we have today. Sorry Darren feeling a little sour tonight after our 4th poorly executed game in a row.

Back on to the productive side – Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Can you convince Coach Davis to save his job we need to get Albert Haynesworth from the Redskins and go back to a 4 -3 as the 3 -4 with our linebackers is not working and is not going to work. Before you shut me down the Redskins know they overpaid so lets have the Redskins pick up at least half of Albert’s salary. He will be motivated to play and I watched him often with the Titans and the man is a beast and we need a total shakeup on D as our front 7 are worse than last year.

Back to the sour side. How many years are we going to tolerate Russ Grimm and his lack of coaching? I finally thought this year we would have a good line and they are still the weakest link, oh I am sorry this year QB is our weakest link.

Something tells me that Sean Peyton and the Saints won’t spend the brain power to care which of the 2 actually start. Once they review tape on the O Line…it wont matter.

the only thing the saints are thinking is ‘thank god we play the cardinals this week.’

As for hall over anderson. If the coach wasn’t seriously considering it he would have said. ‘ derek is our starter he was just out of rhythm today so we gave max a chance to see if he could get it going. by saying he hasn’t made a decision it means he is leaning towards max although max did very little to make it a sure thing.

I really think Whiz made a mistake benching Williams. I understand the need to discipline but rookies are trying to adjust to life in the nfl things are tough mistakes happen. he probably maintained the same diet he was on during training camp and just hasn’t adjusted to the amount of calories that he was burning vs what he burns during the season.

im still behind whiz one hundred percent i am just saying i think he made an error here that hurt the team.

Its obvious the offense is a major project, but there is a glimmer of hope with returning players and now a change in QBs. However the defense has shredded by decent offenses. I don’t see much hope for improvement the DC has to be on the hot seat, does anyone around the team see hope for the defense?

I always predicted Max Hall will take over by week 6, only because Anderson is playing bad! However, it appears to be much more than just the quarterback situation. Our Offensive line needs a lot of work!!!
I am still scratching my head on the Defense! However on the bright side we are still in 1st place in the division and its still early enough to get Max Hall going. I still believe he will develope as a good quarterback and he gives us the best chance to WIN. I haven’t seen the Cardinal’s look this bad since the 2006 Season?

Nine sacks proves it doesn’t matter who is QB. Not to take away the blame on the players, but either they aren’t on the same page, or the protection schemes worked up by Russ Grimm aren’t working. Something is wrong. They appear they can run block, but we’ll be playing catch up most of the season.

I’m as interested to see who will be calling the defensive signals next week. Surely, Bill Davis is feeling the heat by now. Counting last year’s playoffs vs. Green Bay and New Orleans, the defense (term used loosely) has given up 212 points in those six games, an average of 35.33 per game.

No NFL team will be competitive if they give up five TD’s per game on average.

I know the coaching staff will be working OT to correct some things. It certainly won’t get any easier with New Orleans in town Sunday.

I dont know man… but one ting I can see is 3 draft picks going to that line. Two to the tackles. That has always been our weak-point and until that line starts helping out in the game whatever QB we put in will have a hell of a time getting the ball off.

Where’s matt leinart when u need him, the coach didn’t gave him a real chance and now everyones noticing that mistake, leinart was the guy. The biggest mistake of coach wiz as a card was to cut him, now we have to lain all our hopes in a rookie that has the qualities but can he make it? I hope he does because behind him there’s no more

  24. By Keifer on Oct 3, 2010 | Reply

Why does it even matter who they go with? The Offensive line can’t block. The Defensive line gets no pressure. Nobody can tackle. I guess it’s a toss up to see who gets to lead the Cardinal offense to 3 points.

  25. By Perry Faciana on Oct 3, 2010 | Reply

We are in so much trouble. The decision to give up on Matt is looming large. After spending $1500 on season tickets I’m not real happy with any of the decisions this year. Grimm may be a hall of fame player but his line could stop a peewee defensive line right now. The 3-4 defense is a bust. Anderson wasn’t the answer on a bum team last year, and now he’s brought that tradition with him. Not re-signing Boldin, Dansby are unforgivable mistakes. This is an 0-4 team with a 2-2 record. I just wish the leader of this mess would own up to it. Poor decisions by the leader are making it really hard to defend this team.

I would start Hall. Switch back to the 4-3 defense.

Do you think it really matters who starts as far as the Saints and their game plan are concerned? G. Williams likes to bring the heat anyway, which you would think would be the M.O. for an undrafted rookie, and which DA hasn’t shown an ability to beat in the 3+ games he’s played this season. I think their game plan is the same either way, so I think the earlier this decision is made and announced so it doesn’t linger over the team all week, the better. Like it or not, one has to wonder at this point whether Whiz regrets the Leinart decision.

It won’t make a difference whether it it DA or Hall. That is the sad part about all of this. If you don’t see the same thing, you are either blind or in denial. We will be fortunate to win another 2 games the remainder of this year. Hate to say it, but those are the facts.

This is not meant to be funny but Derek Anderson is who we thought he was!!! It doesn’t matter if you can throw the ball through a hurricane, you still have to be able to make decisions!! I am still looking to see the intangibles that Whis saw?? I was at the game in ATL and against OAK and when you look at this team on offense they are looking for aleadership!! And in fairness to DA, Whis needs to bring it!

The defense appears to be completely clueless!! If I had a nickel for every time the the announcers said “the Cards defense looks confused”, health care could be solved. Where is the leadership of A-Dub and Dockett?? They all look lost!!

Evidently Whiz sees something(anything) that no one else saw. To go from Warner to Leinart to Anderson to Max in less than 7 months is incredible.
Still, ask before the season what the Cards record would be after 4 games and I’d bet 75% of the response would be 2-2.

How about some changes at the offensive line. Is obvious that Rex Hadnot is better than Alan faneca in pass coverage and not enough of a downgrade in the run game to go with the older Faneca. Without a strong tackled next to Faneca he’s just not gr8 anymore and blame Levi Brown for that! Also with how Bridges played for injured Brown last year and for Gandy I’d say put in Bridges over Keith. Send a message coach! There needs to be more than a Qb change these guys have not executed.

  37. By georgiebird on Oct 3, 2010 | Reply

The gamble on DA has not worked out and he should be replaced by Max Hall The change should come early in the Saints game or at the latest after the bye week.
But let’s start applying the same scrutiny to Adrian Wilson, Calais Campbell, defensive coach Bill Davis and many others (especially on defense).
I can’t believe everyone’s love affair with A-dub- he’s probably one of the more overrated safeties -he’s compiled his stats against bad teams/bad QBs..Against the better QBs, A-dub is awful. He’s not a smart football player- only effective playing at the line-like a small linebacker.
Watching the Bears game- Jay Cutler’s not much better than DA but Cutler has a defense to keep the score close.

He probably shouldn’t worry about keeping the other team on its toes, needs to worry about his team actually playing. Another disgusting game, ADUB getting BURNED all over the field by another TE. Bill Davis needs to go, horrible want-to-be defensive coordinator. Brandon Keith and Alan Faneca can’t block to save their lives, just letting the guys burn them every snap. Forget the coaches favorites, play who puts in the best contention to win like you said, our O Line was pretty good prior to Faneca and Keith starting. THe whole organization needs to look at what is going on. We are still tied for first but people need to start stepping up. DRC getting burned on the 1 pass thrown his way? Toler has a better season so far if you ask me, Toler a shut down corner now too?? LOL, clowns, looked like we practiced for a whole different team, not the Chargers.

I know we were down big early but on that second drive we only gave it to the back once. I feel like coach whiz is living in the past with his offense we dont have kurt back there so why are we throwing everydown. Also im sick of not seeing beanie until the second quarter why? He is by far the best back with beanie back there we have a better chance to win. Im not saying tim isnt a good back but you cant compare him to beanie. Beanie is at a totally different level and other teams fear him. Just would like to here what you think. Thanks for all your hard work and keeping us informed.

That was a pathetic showing by the offensive line today, by all Keith was a joke, Faneca was embarrassing, Sendleinn looked tired, Lutui and Brown Didn’t even Show up!!! I reffed a youth football game yesterday, and the Pro team I watched on TV today looked as bad as the team of the same name I saw on the field yesterday!! On a side not, the Bears have given up 9 sacks as well… the FIRST HALF! Record breaker tonight I think

Well, rookie Sam Bradford is 2-2 for a team that finished 1-15 last year, and he argueably doesn’t have the supporting cast that the Cards do. Seems to reason that Hall should get his shot to lead this team which the ofish Anderson clearly isn’t.

The Cards also have the easiest schedule in the NFL this year.

It’s only going to get harder for Whiz to justify sticking with Anderson who is exactly what everyone thought he was – a castoff from Cleveland.

If Whiz is so intent on investing in the “Ultimate Derek Anderson Makeover,” why can’t he justify investing time on a possible QB of the future, instead of a retread?

whiz should be trying to make a decision on the defense darren. I mean I love the cardinals and I think some of our guys have been amazing over the years but someone who has lost a step like joey porter and someone who doesnt like covering tight ends and continues to get torched by them like adrian wilson has been showing this season is not what is working… I actually hate even writing it but I think we could all be happy with moving adrian to linebacker and bringing in one of our back up safties to provide coverage… It would help with depth in the linebackers where we are thin wilson could continue to put his head down and blitz like he likes… and maybe we would have faster personnel on the field and create the turnovers we are missing from the 2008 season… I know I wont get a response that rocks the boat as I’ll be told the chargers are a good team and have won the afc west three years in a row but we’ve won the nfc west two years in a row and have a current tie for first so we still deserve respect but with our inability to adapt its tough to gain that respect

please whiz..dont make us watch anderson for another week…its painful. Our outside linebackers are horrible at setting the edge and our dline looks like they are playing for themselves, rather then gap control. PLEASE de=activate b-rob next week and maybe think about rex hadnot instead of faneca. you can see why the jets got rid of him.

The 3-4 just doesnt work when you have a 35 yr old DT that can’t command double teams. Does anyone else see why the dolphins let joey porter go? teams were running at him and having A LOT of success.

You know Darren, this thing is way bigger then the quarterback position…and it is directly coming from the coaches, mainly the head coach/ play caller.

The first drive, I thought was very well planned and excuted except for the flag and interception. We ran well and tried to get Fitz going early with the short passes, pretty balanced. The second drive, I believe we only had one run play. I didn’t see Beanie Wells until the third drive. Our second best player doesn’t touch the ball ’til the third drive. C’mon man…you can’t go up against these better teams leading with the passing game because if you do, the results will be the same – The Saints, Vikings, Dallas – fortyburgers everytime.

We still could of stayed with the run but he started passing like crazy (28 pass attempts, to 15 rush attempts). I don’t get this coach and I’m not sure if he is trying to justify the decision of DA over Matt. It seems like he is really trying to have this offense go through DA instead of switching to a run first, control the clock and game style of play.

Someone really needs to question his decisions. Instead of doing what is right for the team he is trying to convince or sell Derek Anderson, forcing DA down our throats. It is obvious DA is not the answer but he’s keeping this pass first approach. Even when we went to Hall I taught we should of tried to run the ball. The game was pretty much over, so why not work on the game plan. GIVE THE FREAKING BALL TO BEANIE FREAKING WELLS.

Like I said, we all know DA is a bad QB but we should still be able to hold off the 5-11 and less then teams from last season and still compete with the better teams on our schdule. This game was on WhisenNUT not DA as much as that hurts me to say.

If were going to rebuild lets do it with the rookie Max Hall. I see more potenial with him than DA. Plus Bill Davis might want to rethink his play calling also. The D was every where except were the ball was. Antonio Gates was a guy who warrented some one on him at all times and we let him loose in our secondary all day long. And while I’m at it the offensive line suckedalso. They looked like a high school unit second string. Were a team running on two of eight cylinders. I went to the game today I left as fast as I could at the end of the third quarter. The good thing about all of this was there was allot of Cardinals fans there, so I was not alone.

But even after the change where does that leave us? With an offensive line that allows 9 sacks that push their man outside and thinks the plays over, what happened to staying with your block. I believe coach Whiz should have benched the entire starting line to let them think about it. And what was going on with the flat protection or should I say lack there of! And I can I say the words that I was taught in pop warner football “outside contain” we just rolled out the red carpet for their run game. I think their kicker could have ran the ball down our throats. I’m just in awe how are team played today we are better than that. We looked like the cards of old “tom tupa, king’ the buddy ryan era. Please cards don’t open old wounds. Darren can you please tell me if coach Whiz has hit on any of these topics because I just keep hearing QB this QB that and its a much bigger problem than that. Thanks

The way our defense played nobody would have made a difference at quarterback. That said, why not give Hall the job and play it out to see if there is hope for the future. But you had better find someone who can pass protect or you will get him killed. I don’t pretend to know if it is the talent or the scheme, but the play of the defense was pathetic. Porter is a mere shell of what he once was. And just wondering, anybody covering Gates yet? I don’t know that I have ever seen someone so wide open so many times.

Darren, before my rant, is there another NFL team that has a UFA as a backup QB (and, now maybe the starter)?

Memo to Whiz: THE HONEYMOON IS OVER.

    The reasons:

You brought DA into town and gave him the QB job even though his career record was undistinguished to say the least e.g. completion percentage and interceptions.

You ran Matt out of town for unspecified reasons.

You have a love affair with AFC Central players who aren’t that good: DA, Faneca (who couldn’t block me as a pass rusher and is OTH), Joey Porter (who’s OTH), Haggans et al. I see a similarity between George Allen and Whiz in trying to acquire aging former stars.

You have made terrible decisions regarding draft choices and FAs e.g. Buster Davis, Roberts, Skelton (why not draft Hall if he is better and sign Skelton or someone else as a UFA?), DA and other personnel decisions too numerous to mention.

If Whiz is the primary decision maker vs. Graves on draft choices and FAs, then the Cards should change the locks on the Draft Central War Room and the FA meeting/decision room and not give Whiz the keys.

I have a suggestion for Whiz for a QB draft selection for 2011: Washington Univ. QB, Locker. He’s having a great (?) year, (sort of like DA) or Delhomme of the Browns (another AFC Central guy).

Re: the Card fans who chant “IN WHIZ WE TRUST”, take a cold shower and think about what he has done to the team with his personnel decisions especially at QB.

Let the Saints think about what? Whether they’re starting against a terrible QB in DA or a undrafted rookie QB in Hall? I can hear the Saints defense chomping at the bit already. I really, really hope some changes are made and something gives, because it is going to get old really fast watching this team barely beat mediocre teams, then get blown out of the water by any team that is respectable.

This not knowing our identity being spread is getting a little old. Where was Beanie today? Was he hurt or in the doghouse? Coach Davis you need to put a defender in the same area code as #85 on the Chargers he is pretty good.

  71. By Rich on Oct 3, 2010 | Reply

Perhaps what Whiz should decide on is abandoning the 3-4 defense. Start Dockett, Campbell, Williams and Branch on a 4 man front. Rotate the other three in. Start Haggans, Lenon and Washington at LB. Rotate Davis and Walker. Porter looked horrible and they have little depth at LB….and a lot at D-line.Besides, A-Dub is already a 4th LB.

I’m amazed how little Anderson cares of his job, this will probably be his last stop(you overthrow a 6′ 5 receiver?). Does he ever stay behind after practice to work with the QB coach? The O-Line was bad today too, 9 sacks is unacceptable, so I think Cards fans need to focus on that as well. Faneca=flop, I’ve never seen an O lineman lay on his butt more often, he isn’t the stud he was 5 years ago. This years draft we need to take a 9ers approach and get ALOT more talent on that line(no point in even taking the field if your QB will spend the game sitting). Disappointing loss, the defense hasn’t stopped any decent to good offensive team.

Derek Anderson didn’t lose that game for us, Our terrible defense did. And honestly, I think the coaching/scheming has been terrible, how many shotty defensive seasons do the cardinals have to have befor Bill Davis is replaced? Offesively I think we went to the air way too quick when there was still alot of football to be played and it let the chargers D-line to tee off on the QB. And I mean seriously our secondary is playing awful this year, the run D isn’t that great but even if we had them 3rd and Long we’d give up the big play. It was embarassing to watch this. I don’t think the Falcons game was an “apparition” and 9-0 Better step it up and make his money’s worth. There was no pressure on Rivers all day.

You’ve got to wonder if trying to move the team in the opposite direction of all the other successfull teams (and the rules committee for that matter) is the right way to go. At least with Leinart we had hope.

the O line needs to improve no Question, but Anderson has no field vision or sense of timing and He’s no rooky. Look I was not expecting Anderson To be the save our season QB many hoped for but I was expecting some game savvy experience. At least the ability to throw a down field pass to a receiver that has beat his coverage by at least four or five steps. Anderson a QB in the NFL??? not with those throws. Hall played into the teeth of a defensive lightning storm that would of made most QB’s wince and fault-er. Hall is the best choice for this position. Success tho, for This team can not be found on the rosters of the fallen or the stats of its stars but in the Solis of self determination and pride in each other. Solution………..start Max Hall, I guarantee he won’t play as bad as Derek Anderson has the past 4 games. We are lucky to be 2-2, lets turn a new leaf and grow with Max. Derek Anderson is a backup and thats all he will ever be and I think 80% of the Cardinals fans new that to be true and for some reason Coach Whiz picked Anderson over Leinart which was obviously a mistake, thats what happens when u make dumb decisions.

  89. By Justin on Oct 3, 2010 | Reply

I’m going to first say that, holy cow, apparently Warner did an amazing job of covering for a horrific O Line. Second, this is exactly why it was a terrible decision to run Leinart out of town like he had the most contagious case of swine flu in the world. I’m not just using perfect 20/20 hindsight in that, because I have said all along that we would be lost with Anderson as our QB and there is no way in the world either of those rookies would be ready to step in. That is not taking anything away from either of them or their potential, but goodness gracious Hall was playing high school teams against BYU and Skelton junior high teams with Fordham last year. How could either of them possibly be ready for the size and speed of a first string defense so early. I hope Leinart signs with the Seahawks next season and rips us apart. It is obvious that the decision to cut him was more personality conflict than what was best for this team. I hope that, by the grace of god, Anderson can actually learn how to play the QB position or we are lost

Billy Davis never should have been the D C in the first place the man got fired when he was Mike Nolan’s DC with 49ers that year the 9ers give up the most points in the NFL so why does Whiz keep him around can you answer that Darren

Mike Holmgren has always been a good judge of QB talent and he let Anderson go. Why did Whiz and Graves think they knew better? It took only 2 preseason games to pull Leinart, and 2 preseason and 3.5 regular season games to pull Anderson. Get ready Max and start warming up John Skelton. We are lost at sea without a captain right now. Dockett + Campbell + Porter + B Rob = 0 sacks on the season??? They can’t all be double teamed.

Til now, I’ve tended to trust Wiz’s judgment about personnel, preaching a “let the process play itself out” philosophy despite misgivings about (a) not having a Plan B with regard to our starting QB and (b) whether some of the veterans we brought in were living on their reputations a little too much.

Well we’re seeing the process play itself out – and it ain’t pretty. The fingers will, no doubt, begin to point toward Ken W and, I think, with good reason. Someone on the Cardinal staff has to be responsible for staying up at night worrying about “who comes in when a starter can’t go” (& equally as important, what to do about it).

To have a depth chart that looks like: Anderson – UDFA – UDFA is pretty risky business & not good for either the Cardinals nor for Max Hall (who, if we don’t ruin him, has the chance to be a pretty good NFL quarterback).

Finally – it ain’t all about the QB (although a lot of it is). Is there any truth to the rumor that Bill Davis’ defensive game plan against SD was “be careful not to cover Antonio Gates?” (Even a cave man would know that Gates is the key to their offense).

I don’t understand all the quarterback talk. The QB situation is a lose lose matter right now. It don’t matter which direction you turned, the damage was done in August. We are reaping what WhisenNUT sowed.

If you stay with DA you will get the same results for the remainder of the season. If you went with Max Hall, who MIGHT be better right now but you still are going to get the inexperience and a lot of mistakes. We don’t have the defense to get neither one of these QB backs.

I’ve said this since I started sharing my comments on this site. And for the record, I got ripped apart everytime but I stayed true to what I thought. That the QB shouldn’t have to do much for us this year to have a good year. The schedule is soft and we have a good run game lead by Beanie Wells but who would of thought the defense would take a leave of absence on us.

How do you give up on your balanced attack against SD after only two or three series. They had us by a TD when we started throwing the ball every down leading to DA’s pick six…jokes on you, jack.

“this is not going to be a good year for you because we are going to lead with the run game and when we do throw it the QB only hits half of his attempts…oh yeah can you resign with us for another 4 yrs.”

My thoughts against the Saints…give the start to Hall because we are going to lose anyway. So let the guy go through this week as a starter with meeting, practise and whatever else they do. Let him get his feet wet and go into the bye to make a decision on the rest of the year. Seattle is the make or brake game of the year for us.

I saw this coming when we signed DA. I knew he was going to bring that Cleveland Browns QB controversy here and now we are stuck with two rookies and a dead beat. Just some thoughts/opinions, but here’s my two-cents:

I do not think Derek is the right answer for this team. There are two rookies, Hall and Skelton, who could fit in. They are more accurate than Derek and with a little bit of OJT, they can beat the learning curve. Maybe, worst-case scenario, play them in tandem like Whiz did with Warner and Leinart three seasons ago. The team went 8-8 and nearly won the division with two QBs playing. After witnessing Derek play the past four games, we are on the road to our first loosing season in three-plus years (’07: 8-8; ’08: 9-7; ’09: 10-6). The guy has confidence issues that affect his mental state and playing ability on and off the field. The offensive like played terrible against the Chargers and since the season opened. As I mentioned in a previous post, they cannot handle the blitz and are missing blocking assignments on many plays. I think Whiz needs to bring back Mike Gandy, slide him in at LT and move Levi Brown back to his natural position at RT. Brandon Keith still has some footwork issues he needs to overcome to be a starter. Lyle Sendlein (C) has looked very weak in four games thus far. I was never on his bandwagon to begin with. Whiz should bring in a guy like Kevin Mawae or Justin Hartwig, I believe these two are available, to shore up this position. Our guards are good but are having a hard time anchoring the trenches up front with a weak center, right tackle and a left tackle whose natural position is right tackle. As for the defense, they need to play as a unit. Granted, they have been on the field longer than our offense has through the first four games. Bill Davis needs to scheme better game plans to put these guys in positions to stop the run, force turnovers, get sacks and to ultimately stop the opposing offense. The talent is there, minus Gerald Hayes, but Bill Davis is not doing a very good job with the players he has at his disposal. There are definitely some changes that need to be made, hands down, no question. I hope these changes come very soon, I am still looking forward to a 3-peat in our division.

Jeff Garcia sounds good to me. Max Hall needs some time, he will start a game and eveyone will be up in arms because he is not doing the job, he is inexpereiced, that was very apparent yesterday. Why the Cardinals get these “old” has beens and think we have something special, Porter, I will never know. There is talent on the defense, they are not been used properly, I think the defensive coach is a problem, he looked like a “deer in the headlights” yesterday. Lots a problems not alot to think about…make some poitive changes and save some face! Sunday should be a debacle…..

I thought Wiz decided on a QB when he cut Leinart? He felt Anderson was able to perform in tough situations are required by Wiz’s excellent offensive coaching. Most of us who have not taken a sip of the “cool-aid” felt he was a little bit immature in cutting a QB with experience for two rookies!!!

Maybe this might his 2nd to last season as the coach; making such impractical decisions with an important position like QB.

“Hall is ahead of Skelton because he has played better than Skelton since both arrived.”
I’ve heard that before but I don’t care about summer camp. I care about gameday. And the one time Skelton was ahead of Hall (1st preseason game) he looked great, completed 100% of his passes and was demoted. Hall looks like a child playing with men. Skelton is a beast with more tools than Hall. I don’t care what people say about Hall, how he can avoid the rush(sacked 6 times), what’s between his ears, or how much other players/fans like him b/c the fact is SKELTON is the MAN. Really though, playing Max Hall before Skelton makes Whiz-in-consistent-hunt and the scouts look bad.
“Hall is ahead of Skelton because he has played better than Skelton since both arrived.”

That’s fine. As soon as you are named coach, you can rely solely on game day. Or in this case, the last six minutes of the first preseason game.

And since Whiz and the scouts were part of the decision to trade up for Skelton and draft him, exactly how would playing him ahead of Hall make them look bad? You have impeccable logic there.
