Porter, Hyphen among inactives

Posted by Darren Urban on December 25, 2010 – 4:04 pm

As expected, linebacker Joey Porter (tricep) and running back LaRod Stephens-Howling (hamstring) are both inactive tonight with their injuries, while Derek Anderson is set to be the third quarterback. O’Brien Schofield starts in Porter’s place, and it will be interesting to see if the Cards use more 4-3 looks tonight — Gabe Watson is active while Gerald Hayes and Curtis Gatewood join Porter as inactive linebackers. Andre Roberts will return kickoffs with The Hyphen out.

The rest of the inactive list:

  • CB A.J. Jefferson
  • CB Marshay Green
  • C Ben Claxton

As a reminder, the roof is open tonight as well.

Would have liked to seen Jefferson or Green as KR instead of Roberts to see what they could do, but I guess the team has seen enough in practice to determine that Andre is the best option.
Last Cards game in UPHO for maybe a long while?
    Please don’t roll over.

Glad to see that Gabe is active. This game will show how much Daryl and OB will have to bulk up in the off-season but their speed is impressive.
The Cardinals don’t have the overall team speed of the Cowboys.- hopefully the new players will close that gap.
Darren, how much of a priority will the Cardinals make of getting the best assistants for OC and DC-these can be expensive hires and then lost like Haley was. But the Cardinals have the most to gain with some exceptional hires in the off-season.since this year the OC and DC were so bad.

Not sure how that will be sorted out yet.

Just beat the Cowboys. This one is personal (for me). My oldest brother is a Cowboy fan. This goes back to the early 70’s. It used to get nasty and probably still would if we didn’t have our own families. Nothing would make my Christmas better then to be able to ring his cell early and often tomorrow morning.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and let’s go Big Red!

I can’t believe Jerry Jones just had the audacity to say that he encouraged fans to vote for our stadium cause he knew there were Cowboy fans who would benefit! The most obnoxious person in the NFL. He thinks he is the coach, acts as the coach, holds the pressers. Please beat this team and let him swim in his own muck. He only gets the attention because he is the squeaky wheel. Pound them he annoys me more than anyone else in sports.

Hey darren so I am watching the game and skelton is doing ok but do you believe that the cardinals might get cam newton or donovan mcnabb in order to compete for the QB position along with skelton??

The roof did not help the Cardinals from getting down. I don’t care what Ken W. said in the locker room after the game. I saw player “DOWN” during the game. This stems from Ken W. himself. He does not deserve the chance to put Cardinal followers through another season like this. The coaching philosophy sucks, his rules also suck. Rules should change each year since each team is different but with Ken W., his rules are always the same. For example, the Cowboys rookie QB(McGee) almost beat the Cardinals. Did the Cowboy rookie QB have many reps with the starters this week? Ken W. always focusses on the negative and brings DOWN the team. Adrian Peterson was more of a fumbleitis RB than Hightower but did the Vikings coach focus and call out A. Peterson each and everytime, no, I think not. The Cowboys new mid-season coach also almost beat Ken W. Next week Ken W. is up against the Mike Singletary who almost every pundit of Cardinals have had many a laughs. If Ken W. can’t beat Mike Singletary(who fired his offensive coordinator and who Darren swears from here to the N. Pole that isn’t the thing to do mid-season), he ought to be gone next year. Ken W. is too depressing !
Jason Garret – mid-season coach and on the spot QB McGee were a hair from beating Ken W. and the Cardinals — Hence the DOWN Cardinals during the game. Ken W. doesn’t seem to be able to see/know what’s going on during the game/sense how his players feel during the game. That’s it, next year will be a long one with Ken W.

I hate the Cowboys and their owner, but I respect him because he really “cares about the fans” after a loss. I can tell he does because he gets on TV and says so, if and when the Cardinals owner would do such a thing will be a cold day in an Arizona August. When Ken W. says he feels for the fans I know he cares more about himself. His words mean NOTHING to me. It’s time the Cardinals get somebody in that says things that are believable. If the Cardinal owner(s) can’t/won’t talk to the fans themselves, then they need to hire someone who can/will in an honest way.

Woot Woot , Skelton a clutch player weeeee. Back to back game in 2 min. offense this guy produced. Jerry Jones is wetting his pants on his way home to Dallas. Skelton needs more playtime. What do you think, Darren?

Yeah, noticed that we were using 4-3 last week. So after you’ve gone on record over and over that the Cards can’t go back to the 4-3, what changed Darren?

    RE: Defensive scheme

I never said they couldn’t play it. I said they won’t overhaul the defense to use it. I haven’t changed my thought on that.

Adams can’t cover. Enough of the Whiz little man fascination.

Anyone else out there wish we had given Skelton a chance 2 or 3 games earlier. BTW, Darren, who called the plays today?

It was an ugly win, but it was a win. Nice job to Skelton finally finding Fitz, and nice job Feely, Hell of a kick!! His stats may not be great, but I thought Skelton did a Hell of a job!!! No INT’S 1 Td!! Everyone already has McNabb here in Az next year! Well in my opinion, a little more time under center and Skelton is just going to keep getting better, and do the Cards really want to dish out that much cash for McNabb??? I think with a little more time together to gel and Skelton and Fitz can become a Dynamic Duo!! One more thing, we gotta quit abandoning the run! What the Hell happened to it tonight?? We are up 18 points and we forget about running the ball!! Confusing, then at the end of the game run the ball with plenty of success< go figure!!

Geez…some “fans” are never happy! I was thrilled at the win since it goes down as a W and not a L. Thought John Skelton showed a lot of maturity and “cool” for only his 3rd NFL start. GOOD JOB TEAM & COACHES. Now, let’s march into San Francisco and feed the 9ers some of their own smack talk! Was totally disgusted be the coverage of the game…seemed like everything was scripted for a Cowboy win, the so-called sports analysts wouldn’t know talent if it bit them…which it did!
