A-Dub does charity, autographs

Posted by Darren Urban on January 12, 2012 – 9:52 am

A week from tomorrow — January 20 — Pro Bowl safety Adrian Wilson will use his High Point Shoes store (and himself) to help raise money for medical care, supplies and a medical clinic for needy children in Haiti.

From 4 to 7 p.m. on that Friday, Wilson will autograph every pair of shoes purchased and autograph other items for a $20 donation (there will also be signed photos available for $10), with all the money benefiting Global Family Philanthropy and Youth Against Poverty with help from The Adrian Wilson Foundation. (Wilson also donated $70,000 worth of shoes to the cause). It is all tax deductible. Many shoes available will also be heavily discounted.

This will all take place at the Scottsdale Waterfront, 7135 E Camelback Rd., between Wilson’s High Point store and Sauce restaurant. The fund-raising will go on both this weekend and next in the same place to raise money. For more info, click here. Wilson’s website is right here.

16 days until Senior Bowl, these coaching/front office questions could go on for some more days…

Darren- question is not related to this article but, do you think the cardinals would take RG3 if he was available at the 14 stop?

I don’t think there is any way he is there at 13. I guess you’d have to think about it, but no, I don’t. More likely look to trade the pick to someone who covets him.

Sorry to be a bummer, but Coach Staley was a true football man. My dad went to OU, so as a kid, I remember seeing him at Bedlam. I also think his best pro years were in Houston, but I would like to think he was here for our turn around. RIP Coach.

Man…I hear people say it all the time and I’m right there with them – I wish I lived in the area where these great Cardinal players make appearances, do meet and greets, and sign stuff. Must be nice…I would LOVE that.

That was an excellent, heartwarming piece on Rex Hadnot. He has turned his own personal tragedy into attempts to bring comfort to those enduring similar experiences. A great human being.

That ”For Starters An Improved Offense ” was your best written piece by far, tight and journalistic in quality with great prose , a great read !

In regard to Scott H’s comment, I also would love to be in AZ and get to meet players and do meet and greets….but at least I have 34 years!!!! yes years of media guides, and 3 full photo albums, of letters, some signings of great players of the past (Jim Hart autograph), and others, so I cant complain…However I do feel Jim Stanley was a great coach….and good in the front office too!!!! RIP….

I cant stand the Niners, as one previous commenter also indicated…they are overrated. I also think we could use another wide receiver, to take the pressure off of Larry F.

P.S. I found a great photo of Larry wilson, Jim Hart, Charley Johnson on a Missouri website, and would love for it to be put in the 2012 Media Guide…Darren can I send it to you. William.

    RE: Wilson fundraiser

You’d have to ask Adrian or the organizers. Since it wasn’t through the Cards, I’m not sure.
