Hoyer active as backup QB; Rashad sits

Posted by Darren Urban on December 23, 2012 – 12:59 pm

Brian Hoyer is active as the backup quarterback today with John Skelton inactive against the Bears. Ryan Lindley starts, but Hoyer will be available if coach Ken Whisenhunt wants to play him. It’s not a surprise, but for Skelton to open the season as starter and now be inactive with Kevin Kolb also out is an amazing journey.

Safety Rashad Johnson (hamstring) will sit out, meaning Adrian Wilson could get extended time beyond his play in the base defense, although James Sanders is available. This, again, could end up being Wilson’s final home game with the Cards depending on what the Cards do with him this offseason.

Others inactive:

— G Senio Kelemete

— OL Mike Gibson (calf)

— TE Kory Sperry

— WR Early Doucet (concussion)

— DE Ronald Talley (ankle)

If Lindley continues to stink up the joint you HAVE to see what, if anything, Hoyer has to offer.

What a QB mess. Unfortunately, it will ultimately cost jobs.

I have been following the Cardinals as a season ticket holder for 20 years of bad football but this offense and coaching are the worst yet. Keep Horton as HC. Fire whis, Grimm and Graves and find top offensive minded coach.

Absolutely ridiculous is the reality, he has gone from hero to zero with that Seattle fiasco. Whiz was being a jerk before the Seattle game re. Atlanta, STL and especially in NY. I mean in NY Skelton could have won that game and would have been a good way to segue back. Skelton is being punished big time and then will be gone. He is being faulted for Minnesota where he threw a TD pick and he is the author of his Seattle craziness, that game was not going to happen for anyone but Seattle. Whiz threw him into a game in Seattle that he knew Skelton or anyone would have a brutal time in that stadium. Another team will pick him up in the off season. He has much to prove if he can be accurate again and gets a decent chance. Whiz destroys QB’s .

Well, it’s 28-6 and the Bears are running over us, their 3rd/4th RB just ran up the middle for a +10 while our D was still at the line of scrimmage. Brandon Marshall just caught one for a first down against our self proclaimed best(one of the) DB in the conference/NFL. Just because we won 1 game last week doesn’t mean Ken W. hasn’t lost the team. The Bears “pretty bad” OL seems to be doing a smash-mouth-job against our “great” D.

24 quarters since our last passing TD. Wow, L. Fitz just caught a pass in the 2nd half, nice throw by Hoyer down the middle. J. Peppers just welcomed Hoyer with a sack. Our kick return defense team is among the WORST in the NFL allowing + 27 yards per return. I saw how slow they were in preseason.

Luck or RG III wouldn’t have succeeded under Ken W. this year. Get rid of the plague ASAP.

A Wilson not a Cardinal now that I can not see. The season was not interesting so hopefully the off season will be interesting for Cardinal Fans.

    Go Cards

I’m with you, Sarah. Whiz is the QB terminator.
