Four draft picks sign contracts

Posted by Darren Urban on May 10, 2013 – 10:29 am

The Cardinals have begun signing draft picks. The last four choices — fifth-round running back Stepfan Taylor, sixth-round wide receiver Ryan Swope, sixth-round running back Andre Ellington and seventh-round tight end D.C. Jefferson — have all signed their CBA-required slotted four-year contracts. Given that the rookies will be here until Sunday, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see more (if not all) of the draftees under contract by the time it is all said and done.

Rookie minicamp began today (and here’s a pic of Taylor, Earl Watford, Jonathan Cooper and Swope. What, you didn’t see the photo gallery yet?)

Between Dansby news and the rookie signings this must be a good day to write about the Cards. You shouldn’t get too much grief from fans today. Any idea what number Dansby will get – I’d love to see him back in 58 but I don’t see that happening.

I hope we never see another post bemoaning “same old management”. Mike Bidwill has turned this organization around by putting Keim and Arians in their positions, and the three of them have a great start in moving the Cards in the direction that all of us have wanted them to go. Thank you Mr. Bidwill!

It is a Great feeling knowing players want to come back and play for this Cardinal’s Team. I remember years ago when you couldn’t get players to even want to join this team. I second the notion from “Buck”. Mike Bidwill should be placed in the “Ring of Honor”

I am excited to see what the new draftees bring to AZ. I am especially excited to see R.Swope, fresh out of College Station (Aggieland) light up the field this year in the NFL. Howdy Ryan, welcome to Arizona.

I love that Earl Watford & Jonathan Cooper are already wearing team shirts. And look at all four of them smiling, these are some happy men.

This makes me happy. Now for another NFC title.

Looks like Michael Bidwill is acting like he wants to get the Cardinals back to Number 1.

Michael B. has only tasted the SB once and he is Hooked. He is on a mission to get back to the SB and savor that WIN! (savor: VERB; Taste and enjoy it completely.)

    GO CARDS!!!

Didn’t know too much about WR Ryan Swope. Just got done watching his 3 1/2 minute highlight reel on YouTube. This guy runs over people and breaks tackles easily. One tough guy. I can see him burning some guy down field and then if the safety is there him breaking the tackle and running in for six.

This has nothing to do with Cards, but how good will Johnny Football be w/out his best WR in Swope and his big LT body guard Luke Joeckl?

well and good in college but swopes needs to limit hits in the nfl, much more like running into brick walls.we need him fast and healthy, not hurt and concussed, use his speed to avoid collissions and i can see him working out fine in BA’s offense.

easy to see where BA and keim picked players suited to impact certain positions, but it still comes down to what he said, you don’t know until until you play, great college player don’t always transition to the nfl very well and sometimes late rounders or undrafted players just seem to explode.
