Gill tames the treadmill
Posted by on June 28, 2013 – 11:50 amI know I’m a little late to the Robert Gill video party (you go on vacation, you tend to overlook some things) but that viral clip of the Cardinals wide receiver briefly running on a treadmill set at 25 miles an hour (below) is something to behold. If you’ve been reading the site, you already know Gill’s story and there is something intriguing about a 29-year-old still longing for a true NFL chance. (The treadmill video is only the latest on youtube of Gill, who has been posting various highlight videos over the years to draw attention to his possibilities.) The offseason at times was rough for Gill. It seemed like the coaches were barking at him more than anyone else for a while there. But Gill has pure speed, something the Cards would love to have in the wide receiving arsenal.
Gill was mentioned more than once by coach Bruce Arians as someone who caught his eye. If he has the hands to catch the ball when the lights come on, he’s got a good chance to make this team. Because he certainly has the legs.

Darren,
When i look at this video it makes me think of one of the famous lines from the original Major League movie when the manager was talking to Wesley Snipes character after seeing him hit, or lack of hitting, “You may run like Mayes but you hit like …. well the word that rymes with hit”. I hope he turns around and has a great training camp ands makes the team because it is true you can’t teach speed. Thanks for all the updates about the team.

Is he the fastest on the team? Would love to see an old fashioned 50Yard Dash with the “speedsters” on the team like we did in elementary school. Wow! 25mph is faster than I can go on my bicycle without going downhill. That’s incredible.
He’d have caught Harrison.

Bear in mind that world class sprinters reach between 28-30 mph

for all the diehard Cardinal fans, by the way, the Opening day first four games for SF, Seattle, and St. Louis are particularly tough, we will see how this all pans out for us. I firmly believe the Cardinals can win the division. Remember, BA was coach of the year last year, and the FO certainly has things going in the right direction.

William Barry,
I’m with you, I firmly believe the Cardinals can win the division. (Then again, I believed that last year.) We shall see, but if the combination of Coaches and players that we have do what we believe they can and the chemistry is certainly there then we should see a team that wins the Division outright this year.
The other teams are proven and tough for sure, but we appear to have a team that is hungry and is responding to Bruce Arians and his staff and a FO that has put together a good mix of veterans and solid draftees, we’re in a mighty fine position as a teram.
I’m about to sound like one of my children here, but I can’t wait!
Go Cards!
