No Chris Johnson debut yet

Posted by Darren Urban on August 22, 2015 – 5:55 pm

Chris Johnson came off the practice field Thursday having pulled up gimpy on one of the last plays. The injury has yet to be disclosed, but whatever it is, He’s suffering from a hamstring injury, and it’ll stop him from making his Cardinals debut tonight against the Chargers. Previously, Bruce Arians had planned to get Johnson five or six carries. The other Johnson, David, will make his debut, however. The rookie figures to play a bulk of the second and third quarter in his first game after missing the preseason opener.

The other Cardinals not playing tonight — at least on the list — are all injured:

— WR Michael Floyd (hand)

— CB Jonte Green (hamstring)

— LB Shaq Riddick (hamstring)

— LB Sean Weatherspoon (hamstring)

— T Rob Crisp (knee)

— G Mike Iupati (knee)

Last week, CB Jerraud Powers and TE Jermaine Gresham also didn’t play but weren’t on the “not expected to play list.” We’ll see if they get on the field against the Chargers.

Please, no more injuries tonight even though I’m starting to get numb to them.

STRETCH!!!!!!! After all of these hammie pulls, you think this would be a priority by now. We cannot let these small nagging injuries plague us again. GO BIG RED!

    RE: Stretching

But here’s an example of why it might not matter. Johnson had gone through an entire practice already before getting hurt. Not sure how stretching helps that, 2 hours later.

I have 90 voodoo dolls with torn hamstrings. Until y’all do the voodoo cleansing dance, you will suffer. I will throw them away after week 1.

Why do you think Massie hasn’t appealed yet, seems like every other player in the league appeals a few days after their suspension is levied?

re Massie…if he had appealed would it not have been reported? I have not read anything about the suspension since it was announced by the NFL other than it was alleged that Massie was caught with some kind of drug in Phoenix during SuperBowl week. No comment from Massie. No comment from the Cardinals. No reports that questions have been asked by reporters but no information provided in return. Just…..nothing. It’s been said that fans do not have any right to know anything regarding the disciplinary process. Fair enough. But it is newsworthy and this code of silence is a mystery to me. Massie has been practising and playing and available to the media but apparently not taking questions or not answering. Why is that?

Because everybody keeps saying they are undue how many games he’ll be out and not a single person says he has appealed.

CJ not playing at this point does not concern me. Heck, he might not even be here come opening day. And if he is, he is a veteran who will be ready to go when the time comes, if he is healthy.

The on-going absence of Weatherspoon is far more of a concern. He has been worthless so far. And he DOES need the work. Hell, he pretty much hasn’t played since about the last time Washington did! Enough, Sean, OK??? A football player isn’t a football player is he can’t play football.

Maybe the hamstring injuries are coming from the indoor cool temperatures, maybe some outside practices in the morning before the hot 100’s start to scorch. Also maybe the strength training isn’t maintaining the glutes and hamstrings evenly. I don’t know just thinking out loud, injuries in preseason are depressing.

With C Johnson now going down with a hamstring injury this has to be a record for the most hamstring injuries since the Cards moved here.
