No right tackle news yet

Bruce Arians admitted he has an “pretty good idea” who will start at right tackle for the Cardinals Sunday. But he isn’t saying who. Arians declined to name his starting offensive line Friday. “We’ll wait and see what is best,” he said when it came to whether Mike Iupati is going to be able to go at left guard and whether right tackle is manned by Bobby Massie or Earl Watford.

Whoever starts at right tackle is the right tackle. There will not be any switching “unless it’s a problem,” Arians said. Iupati is officially listed as questionable, and he has yet to practice fully since returning to the field. The Cards may end up erring on the side of caution with him Sunday.

One minor upset: Running back Andre Ellington (knee) was limited in practice and Arians is calling him a game-day decision. There’s no need to rush him back, Arians acknowledged, but if he is ready to play he’ll play, because he provides a skillset David Johnson and Chris Johnson do not have. Ellington is listed officially as doubtful.

Both AE and Iupati need to sit this one out, imho. It would be better for both of them to be good in health and in practice next week to then be ready for the Rams. Please don’t rush either back too soon.

It’s absolutely vital to the teams success that Carson stay healthy and absorb less hits as possible, which is why Massie needs to start at RT. Arians said himself that Bobbie was the better pass protector than Watford and even though Earl did not give up a sack he allowed his opponent to get to many hits on Palmer, especially the McPhee hit at the knees which could have ended Carsons season. If we lose a little in the running game I can live with that as long as Carson is playing every game.

Watford needs to be named starting right tackle, he’s proved himself. Changing from guard to tackle in a short span of time.

Hey Darren–Hope all is good! Two nice wins for the Big Red right out of the gate.
Team chemistry seems to be coming together. I like what they did at RB adding both Johnsons. This will be a bigger test for the Cards with the Niner’s coming in–more physical then both the Bears and Saints. The key will be controlling Hyde–he seems to run hard. It will be interesting to see Peterson returning punts–Card’s need to improve in that area. Team looks good–just no injuries–that is what I always worry about!!! Darren–I think Earl Watford has earned playing time in this game–team is running the ball well and the line has given up no sacks(I know its only 2 games)–I would not make a change with the line. Do you think Arians will split the time between Watford and Massie?????

    RE: RT splitting time

Arians specifically said that wasn’t an option.

It should be against the law to own all the weapons the Cardinals posses. In all three phases no less.
    Waiting for the Friday before.

Hey! It’s 6:30 in the east right now and still no Friday Before the Niners blog???

I look at this game in pretty much the same way I looked at the Bears game because I look at Kap the same way I look at Cutler – I just don’t think he is a good QB. And if the Cardinals are doing no more than playing to their capability and not beating themselves, Kap is NOT a QB who is good enough to beat a team better than his own.

I don’t look at any game as easy, especially a division game. in divisions, you always see lesser teams getting up for the better teams and pulling upsets. But with this one being at home for the Cardinals and with the clear edge the Cardinals have with their coaching? They can only beat themselves. If they don’t beat themselves, the 49ers don’t have enough to beat them.

    I’m hoping for 3-0.

Love this fact that we got the Brothers Johnson’s back there ( CJ and DJ) so we dont have to rush Andre back. Its a long season and we need everyone healthy till the end. Love the depth of this team!!!
Great Job BA and Gm Kiem !!! Thats how to STACK THE CARDS !!!!

Hey, can we use those big orange trucks along our O-line???

The fact that Massie pass protects better clinches it for me, he has to play then. Watford did a solid job filling in but he’s allowing our QB to get hit and we can’t have that. We may lose a little in the run game with Earl benched but Iupati coming back strengthens it at the same time. I love having Earl as a backup especially with the way DJ and Sowell played in the preseason. Inject Mike and Bobby into this line, give it a couple games to establish continuity and I believe it shows itself to be a top tier group.
