Gresham out, but Jefferson to play vs. Vikings

Posted by Darren Urban on December 10, 2015 – 4:59 pm

The Cardinals will not have tight end Jermaine Gresham tonight because of his knee, but that wasn’t unexpected after he was listed as doubtful. More work for Troy Niklas alongside Darren Fells, and I’d think A.Q. Shipley or Jonathan Cooper could get tight end work in jumbo packages.

Injuries actually made the inactive list for tonight’s game fairly simple. With the short week, those extra couple of days might have helped a couple of guys. Safety Tony Jefferson (hamstring) is active, although the Cards have new safety D.J. Swearinger if needed.

The full list of inactives:

— QB Matt Barkley

— CB Jerraud Powers (calf)

— RB Andre Ellington (toe)

— LB Shaq Riddick

— T D.J. Humphries

— TE Jermaine Gresham (knee)

— DT Frostee Rucker (ankle)

10-10 at half-time and yet another game that is just hanging right out there for the taking by the other team. A lesser team, although you wouldn’t really know that so far.

Are we REALLY being out-gained by the Vikings? Yes, we are. The Vikings couldn’t breathe last week against Seattle. Tonight? They are breathing just fine, doing pretty much everything they want to do. Poor tackling. Leaving too many guys un-covered. If not for the turnover, are the Vikings winning this game???

But what the hell is with the offense?? They look like they are stuck in 2nd gear. They move it down the field, then go backwards. What the hell is Palmer taking that sack for, to take us out of FG range??? Stupid, stupid, stupid. The Vikings are missing so many guys on D and we are doing nothing to make anyone even notice. 10 damn points???? We look….disinterested so far, like we are expecting it to be easier than this.

Hey, the Vikings have come to play. And given the injuries they came in with tonight? They have clearly won the first half of this game. Period. Score might be tied but THAT is absolutely a win for the Vikings.

My God, why do we need a wake up call AGAIN???? I hope BA is peeling the paint off the walls in the locker room at half-time. Because this team needs something to wake them the hell up.

And one more thing – no more sliding for Palmer, please. That looked awkward. And scary.

23-20. Tough game. Kudos to the Vikings, they played hard. Based on last weeks performance, the Vikes would be coming out strong, and the Cards would be riding on their laurels.

Good game, and nice timing strip by Freeney. Pass protection an issue for the Cards. Live by the blitz and die by the blitz was happening for the Cards.

Fitzgerald had a couple picture perfect down field blocking plays. The John Brown TD, Fitz’ block (pancaking the DB) was done so well, this will be a highlight for HS teams learning on how to block.

First and foremost it is very nice when your favorite team just knows how to win games. For so many years this game would be a loss.

I was praying we would not bring more than 5 guys to rush the QB the last series. I do not think we should blitz as much with 6 or more players as we do. What do you think? We just can not cover RB or TE or tonight anyone just going out 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. To me we need more guys in coverage and we seem to get as much pressure with 4 or 5 guys as we get with rushing more.
Teddy Bridgewater 335 yards? That is 2 games for Teddy.

Darren what happened on the interception Carson threw? I know Vikings were off sides but was it a bad pass or did Floyd run the wrong route?

Cat Man had a big kick and then booted the ball deep enough for no return which is also big at end of the game, but normally his kicks were returned. I worry about our kickoff and punt coverage teams. Our opponents always seem to have an advantage and this could cost us a close game in the playoffs.

Hey Cardinals Fans how do you force our high powered offense to a 3 and out?
Answer you let us pick up 9 to 91/2 yards on the first two plays so we run on third down. Best block of the night by a Cardinal is definitely Fitz on Floyds TD run. That was sweet.

David Johnson had the nice run down to the two yard line and we take him out of the game. Not saying he would have scored but why not leave him in as he was running well.

CC monster game. 2 starting corners did a nice job covering receivers but I think PP had 3 holding calls against him, and Teddy still has 335 yards.

Go Cards as we are back on TV next Sunday night against the Eagles. Nice that game time was moved so our guys do not have to play early.

Massie is HORRIBLE!!!! He misses a lot of crucial blocks when it really counts……he needs to be replaced, hopefully Humphries can wake up and smell the coffee soon cuz Massie blows bigtime.
