The Cardinals made a pair of not-surprising moves Friday, cutting two players who missed all of 2013 because of injury: wide receiver LaRon Byrd and linebacker Dan Giordano. Byrd suffered a concussion in the preseason and was placed on injured reserve. Giordano, an undrafted rookie last year, suffered a toe injury during the offseason and was never able to come off the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Byrd had been waived-injured last season, but after he wasn’t picked up by anyone, he reverted back to injured reserve. He had been back at the facility working out recently. Giordano had been faithfully rehabbing daily since the season ended.
Both play positions that figure to be further addressed this offseason, either in the draft or otherwise. The Cards certainly will be adding some outside linebackers and seemingly are a lock to draft one at some point. Receiver is another spot where the Cards will add bodies, although with a top four right now of Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd, Ted Ginn and Jaron Brown, it isn’t a pressing need.

The Cardinals, again, adjusting for the start of camp, made two more roster moves Wednesday. Linebacker Tim Fugger was waived after he failed his physical. Undrafted rookie linebacker Dan Giordano will start camp on the active physically-unable-to-perform list with a toe injury. That means Giordano remains on the roster for now (if he is still on PUP when the regular season starts, he would not take a roster spot), but Fugger’s release means the Cards now have three empty roster spots. There were a couple of guys in for tryouts Wednesday — I do not know who — and, as we explored earlier today, there is the possibility of adding John Abraham.
Yes, it feels like this roster could churn a bit as we maneuver through camp and Bruce Arians and Steve Keim assess what they have.

A total of 25 of the Cardinals rookies went to Phoenix Children’s Hospital yesterday to bring a little joy to the kids who are there. Thanks to the wonders of technology — and the enterprising PR person Stacey Dillier (@PCHPRgal on Twitter) who recorded this great piece of video goodness — you can see some of the rookies “playing backup” to patient Bethany, who decided to channel her inner Taylor Swift. The players are Jamaal Johnson-Webb (62), Padric Scott (62), Earl Watford (with the giant stuffed dog), Dan Giordano (48, sitting) and Jonathan Cooper (61).
